Amen, DD!!
But, omd, you guys actually watch all that football? LOL I know, I know...unAmerican of me, but I haven't had the TV on all day! Been watching the Pacific loon down at the lake between the roasting and the devouring of the turkey, then back to the lake after dinner to show the loon to MIL. Yes, we are all a little loony today! But this is the first Clark County record of this bird! Happy Thanksgiving to all our American members!

Guilty as charged I am a huge NFL fan have been since the late 70's!! Oh I am so jealous a Loon. That is one of the sounds of my childhood. We were a camping family and the mournful call of the loon still gives me chills. Plus they are so beautiful all dressed up in black and white.

Too late, angeldogs--at least at this house. These leftovers are all mine!! Mine I tell ya!! LOL
Here are some (sorta crappy) pictures of the loon--it's a juvie. Pacific loons breed in the arctic and winter on the west coast. What it's doing in Wisconsin is beyond me, but I'm very thankful it decided to visit!

Hazel, I was reading an article in Readers Digest about a fellow who was feeding the birds over winter and never had any birds coming to the feeders. He even went so far as to plant new bushes and tree's one summer so they would come. Nothing! He knew their neighbours had birds, but him, nothing! Then one day, suddenly out of the blue, he had pheasants, blue jays, etc. and he was so excited. They came daily for weeks then suddenly stopped showing up again. Then his wife says, oh the Jones' (or whoever) down the road are back from holidays! Turns out since the neighbours were away nobody was feeding the birds over there so they came to his house, once the original folks were back and the buffet was open again they left him high and dry. It was too funny, and made me think of you!
By the way I love the loon. When we used to camp we'd hear them all the time, it's such a primal sound. Sometimes at home we hear the coyotes at night around our place, I love that. |

Had a great thanksgiving. Just had ours today. Got to see many aunts and uncles and cousins. It was a great time. Men played poker while ladies chatted and got caught up.
