Diarrhea and Cats Question

Last week I posted regarding my cat who had been shot with a BB gun, had surgery, and then diarrhea. He started to get over the diarrhea and yesterday I introduced a couple tablespoons of canned food along with the rice/chicken mixture. This morning the diarrhea started again. I have him back on rice and boiled chicken. Does anyone know how long he needs to be on the rice/chicken mixture to actually get him "back to normal"?

Have you tried adding some pumpkin to his meal? 100% pure pumpkin, not pie filling. The fiber should help harden his stool. Have you checked with the vet as to why he has diarrhea?

Cats do not need the rice, that could be causing the diarrhea.

Are you also feeding your kitty cat food, if not, your kitty needs taurine, an essential amino acid that is killed by heating meat and you should be adding that daily to your kitty's food.

I am feeding him rice, boiled chicken with a teaspoon of AD canned food to mix in as he will not eat the rice and boiled chicken alone. Since rice is a binding agent, I would think the rice would help to alleviate the diarrhea. When I called the vet's office I asked if the rice and chicken was the correct thing to do and they told me to feed him that mixture but gave me no further instructions. Where do you get the taurine? What is it?

Rice can cause diarrhea in cats and a tsp of food will not give your cat enough taurine, a better binder would be baby food-butternut squash or canned pumpkin. Taurine is essential for eye and organ health in a cat.

Cooking the meat kills all the taurine, I am so surprised a vet office would recommend this for a cat, that diet is a normal diet for a dog who has digestive issues, but dogs don't need taurine to survive.
