We lost Abby yesterday

We lost a great friend yesterday, my hiking buddy of 12 years, Abby.

We thought we had one cancer surrounded and she was improving with the prognosis of another 18 to 24 months of quality life but a second, more aggressive cancer burst inside her, causing massive internal bleeding and overcoming her within days. We could have extended her life by a few more months with another operation but her quality of life would have been fairly poor so the choice was fairly clear and we elected to end her pain.

Hoist a glass to Abby and a life well-lived. Her many adventures, as always, are at www.goldentales.ca

Rick

My heart goes out to you and your family, Abbey was a gorgeous golden girl who was very lucky to have such wonderful parents. I believe in quality of life and for that although it's very tough I agree you did the right thing. I too lost a golden almost 4 years ago, they are so much a part of us it's so hard to let go, Abbey is now pain free, she would Thank You for that. Thinking of you!

Aw this is so so sad There was so much hope after the last surgery...she sure was having a hard time
to you and your wife and sweet Keeper who will miss her too.

Abby had a wonderful life and will sit up at the Bridge looking down and waiting for you all. I am sure there are equally wonderful trails at the Bridge as Abby walked on earth.

RIP sweet Abby...run whole young and healthy again at the Bridge!

I'm so sorry to hear about Abby. My condolences to all of you. As the others have said, through your wonderful stories and photo's it's seemed like both Abby and Keeper are part of our own families. We have come to know them personally. RIP sweet Abby, run pain free at the bridge now. In time you will all be together again. So very few dogs get the chance to live the type of life that you have given Abby and Keeper. They are very lucky pups indeed. Keeper is my thoughts today, she will be a very sad girl for a time I'd guess.

Glass hoisted, Rick, and a toast made in Abby's honor! What a life you gave her! I spent part of the afternoon on your site, rereading your many adventures together.

My condolences to you, to Carol, to Keeper, to Maude and all the kitties. May the good memories quickly outweigh the sad ones and fill your heart with joy!

Abby, pain free and young again at the Bridge
