new member- my dog is sick!
I came across this forum when i was searching for answers about my dog being sick. I took my 1.5 year old lab to a kennel for 3 days last weekend. 10 days prior he had all his vaccinations including his one for kennel cough. about 3 days ago, i noticed he felt kind of warm, has a runny nose and sneezing alot. his appetite has decreased but i haven't noticed that he is lethargic or anything. this is my first dog and i dont know if he just got a cold, if its allergies or if he contracted something from the kennel. do i need to see a vet or is there something i can do or give him at home? thank you

Just to be sure I would have hime checked out by your vet. I think sometimes the vaccinations are not in the system long enough?? your not the first person to have a pup pick up kennell cough...it is contagious so if you have another dog??
Good Luck and let us know how you make out!! Oh ! by the way welcome to the site! Lots of great people and loads of information!! Cindy

It takes at least 2 weeks for the vaccine to take effect and even then , it's not 100% garantee that a dog won't catch it.

Kennel cough is like the common cold is in humans--there are lots of varieties. The vaccination only covers maybe 4 - 6 of the more common strains. So even with the vaccine, it's possible for your dog to get KC.
If his appetite doesn't improve by Monday, it's best to bring him in for a once-over by the vet. If it turns out to be KC, he probably won't need meds for it--but a decrease in appetite can be a sign of so many different things... So best to be sure.
