Up at Lake Agnes
We had to leave Keeper behind on Saturday, a muscle pull earning a vet-prescribed week of rest . . . . . but Abby and I trekked up to Lake Agnes.
This is a very popular hike about 3.5 km above Lake Louise . . . . popular in the summer at least . . . . but not many people here this day although we did chat with a young couple from Cornwall at the teahouse at Lake Agnes. How deep is the snow? As I took this shot, I'd sunk up to my crotch and would have kept going except for you know what!! There will be snow here into mid-June . . . and in the darker, shadowy places, perhaps into next winter. Below . . . . "Do . . . . NOT. . . . go . . . . down. . . . . there!!!" On the trail to Lake Agnes. Lake Louise would be in the valley below and part of Victoria Glacier is to the right. Earlier, we had walked from one end of Lake Louise nearly to the other . . . . . but the ski track we were following continued straight as an arrow, toward the river mouth coming off the glacier in the background . . . . and, as such, was too dangerous to continue after a time. The ice here will sink into the lake about the third week of May or first week of June. From the previous week, Keeper and Abby at Upper Kananaskis Lake . . . . Wonderful pictures, as always, Rick!
Abby looks so incredibly happy in that third shot!! And the next one could be a moon shot if Keeper and Abby weren't there. Looks positively isolate!!

Beautiful pics once again.
I love Abby's smile in the third pic but holey moley she sure is close to the edge in the second pic. Hope Keeper has a speedy recovery. |
