Reaction to needles?
Mollie went to the vets today and checked out o.k. She had her 2nd needles for distemper, adenovirus, parainfluenza, parvo, corona and Leptospirosis.
She came home, played with Gryphon for a bit, had her dinner and went out to perform her jobs. Nothing out of the normal. Soon after coming in, I went to pick her up and she yelled out a huge cry! While I was holding her, she continued to whimper and was shaking/shivering. I let her down and she continued to shiver so hubby let her snuggle down on the couch and she's been there since 8:00 p.m.! I tried pick her up but she started to whimper again. Could she be in pain from the needle and having a reaction? I don't recall this ever happening with either our Bailey or Gryphon and it seems odd not to mention very sad.

Yes, it could be that. That's a lot of shots. Poor girl. She's likely running a bit of a fever and will be 'off' for a day or two. If she gets worse, begins to vomit, goes off her food, or doesn't improve by tomorrow night, give the vet a call and see if they want her back in for a recheck.
Setters do seem to be sensitive to needles. If you can break up the vaccinations in the future by even a few days, it'll be easier on her. When she's due for rabies, make sure that one is given solo--we've always had trouble with our setters if we've tried to combine the rabies with anything else. So now, even though it means an extra 90-mile round trip, we separate rabies from all other innoculations. We also try to give them their lepto and Lyme's boosters separately.

Also many vets are no longer using corona vaccine as it is no longer recommended by AAHA in their 2006 guidelines. It may have some importance in high volume breeding and rescue site or areas that have a high prevalence of corona - however these are not typical scenarios. With that said, I do still see it commonly but if your pet is getting sore and uncomfortable - perhaps talk to your vet about leaving that one out.

Thank you so much for your insights and solid advice Hazel and Dr. Lee.
Mollie managed to eat her breakfast this morning and has returned to her normal "fart in a mitt" character! I will have to remember your recommendations about the rabies and corona doses.

Very happy she's back being her normal little bugger self!
I know...I know about the pictures. Just went back to work on Tuesday so I'm trying to play catch up there. Hopefully I can snap some more soon and update the picture post! Looks like she's starting to get a couple new spots on her backside.

I think all puppy owners should be allowed paid leave to watch their little ones grow! The little s grow up so fast!
