Starting an official rescue
Hi everyone,
I hope this is the right forum to ask this... I have been rescuing stray cats that have been abandoned out in the country where I live for a few years now. I was wondering, what are the steps in becoming an official rescue? Honestly, the money is getting tight and I was hoping if I could become official, that I could claim some of the expenses. If anyone could point me to any resources/web pages I could read on the subject, that would be great, I'm having a hard time finding anything on Google. If it matters, I live in Quebec. Thanks for any info! |

You need to gather a board of directors and there are governmental paper work to fill out to become a registered charity.
Try contacting local rescue groups. Since you do cats, contact CASCA. Maybe you can become an affiliate??? Let them know what you are presently doing and what you want to do. They could give you some tips, advice and maybe even take you under their wing...you never know. |

You'll find some valuable information here: http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/tx/chrts/pplyng/menu-eng.html
Good luck !

Thank you, LP for posting that link!
I would like to open my own rescue (would be very, very, very small at 1st - so that I could manage it on my own) within the next 10-15 years and am trying to gather information and experience. Thanks!!
