Oh, I hope she continues to eat on her own! That's wonderful news. Baby steps are better than no steps.

I agree with you on leaving her home if she's able to continue eating on her own. If the clinic will stress her out, a setback would be terrible and the poor girl has been through enough. And, if the pet sitter knows to take her to the clinic if anything is wrong then you know she will be taken care of.

I cautiously agree that she's better off at homethe stress of the hospital might set her back again.
It would be better of course if this person could stay in your house with her, just to be safe..
Soooo happy she's eating again

Wonderful news for you!! I am in the group of "cautiously keeping her at home" if she is eating enough. Being at the vets would stress her to no end.
Is there any chance that someone from the vets office can come in and give her a feeding or two while you are gone? Obviously someone who knows how to do it. Maybe someone there needs a little extra cash? Just a thought.
If I haven't ever told you you are one fantastic kitty mom!!!!

Hi thanks. Good idea but no one can come feed her ( or touch her). She won't let anyone feed her, including the vet tech. I originally was going to pay the vet tech to sleep in my house and give her feedings but after the bad vet got ahold of her she will not let anyone touch her except me. She has to be sedated in order for the vet to handle her....or it takes three people to handle her and do what they have to do (seriously).

she ate 1/8th of a cup plus 2 TBSP's so far. I saw her drinking water. the sitter can come in 3x a day to check on her. he has instructions to put her in her carrier and take her to hospital if anything happens.

SHE WAS JJUST PLAYING WITH A FEATHER ON A STRING AND GOT UP ON HER BACK LEGS AND REACHED UP INTO THE AIR TO GRAB THE FEATHER! It was soooo cute! I am praying if she continues this way the stupid tube might be able to come out next week!

Meow, it really sounds like this last vet visit helped her a lot! I'm thrilled to hear she was actually playing!

Yes 3 things happened:
flagyl
used a different med to sedate her
i cut her collar back behind her ears so her mouth could get to bowls but her neck is still protected.

friday

simba did not eat as much today. now i am worried about leaving her. vet said even if she ate nothing for 2-3 days she would be okay as long as she drank water. i hate this and i hate that jerk who put us in this position.

I hate that jerk too.

Don't let this get you down. She's been doing well, so maybe her tummy just isn't used to so much food and she's just getting used to it.

Meow,I am glad she ate some food, maybe she just did not feel up to it yesterday, but I think she's on the road to recovery
Keep whispering in her ear, that the tube comes out if she eats
We have no idea what kind of trauma, other than having her teeth pulled, she suffered those 2 weeks when you were not allowed to see her.
I too hate that jerk!!!!

I know chico

She ate in the middle of the night. So we are still at 1/8th of a cup of eating. I saw her drink water today several times. I love my girl. Her staying home is better than boarding her i think.

3/26/09

I was gone for 4 days. Simba ate her dry kibble. She ate 1/4 cup the first day and 1/2 cup the next day. The 3rd day she ate 1/4 cup and also vomited it. I came home day 4 and gave her tummy meds. She was fine last night purring. This am I gave her tummy meds and she threw them up. I wasn't going to tube feed her to see if she will just eat on her own and we can take out the stupid tube. She doesn't look skinny and feels normal weight. We go to vet on Saturday. I am so thankful she made it these 4 days.

Small claims court notified the bad vet I am suing him. He has to reply by 5/14/09. Now he KNOWS all the bad things I know about him. JERK!

Good going Simba! Not perfect but definitely much better than before! Great job Mom!
May I just say this thread would be a very good thing to print out and take to court for evidence. It shows how hard and dilegently you have worked to improve Simba's health.

14+: I had not thought of that.
we are going to the vet tomorrow. we will see what happens. she is not eating much but her weight looks ok. she is miserable with the collar and the
tube in/on. she scratches and it is so uncomfortable. SHE HAS HAD THE TUBE FOR 3 MONTHS NOW! I hope it is time for it to come out.

for the tube to come out
If she's eating a little now,she might eat more with that tube out,I really cannot see the need for that anymore, but I've never had a cat with a feeding-tube.
I am very happy she's slowly becoming her old self
For small claims court!

I wish Simba much luck. She seems to be doing a lot better ever since she began seeing the internist.

Saturday 3/28/09

Hi everyone. It is Simba writing. My mom took me to the internist today. My kidney values were a little improved. This whole week i ate on my own and I only lost one ounce. The vet said it was up to my mom to take my feeding tube out or not. My mom decided to take it out because I didn't lose any weight this week and she could tell it was driving me CRAZY. The dr. said that was a good idea b/c I had it in for three months and they start to disintigrate (sp?). The dr. told my mom if I don't eat by Tuesday I have to go back for a new tube! My mom told me I better eat!

Here I am without a wrap or cone on my head. Aren't I cute?

I was so happy when I got home! I layed on the floor so my mom could pet my belly. I rubbed my head all over the carpet b/c I have not been able to do that in 3 months!

Then I took my first bath in three months! I wanted to clean my legs!

Now, should I eat? It sure looks good. My mom tells me I have to. Maybe when she is not looking I will. I will let you know tomorrow.

Love, Simba

Simba, you have been such a brave and strong girl through all of this. Your mommy loves you so much, and so do we! Please please, eat. It doesn't have to be a lot all at once, but a little bit here and a little bit there and you'll be eating like your old self in no time!
