angora cat needs a home

Male angora cat, 3 years old, neutered and declawed, needs a new home due to owner being hospitalized. Picture coming.

OK, it's a female, NOT declawed, 7 years old (not 3), strictly indoor cat, affectionate. Looks a little chubby! It is not an emergency, they are willing to wait for the right home. Here is Kitty:

Any idea on how she gets along with other cats ? And, the most important question in my house right now - is she vaccinated ?

is she vaccinated
A cat who has lived indoors all her life, and lived 7 years without being sick doesn't need vaccinations unless she's going to be be exposed to indoor/outdoor cats.

Lucky,

I think if Julie is interested in adopting this cat, it's a good question to ask. She just fostered a mom and kits with panleukopenia, if I remember well... It's unlikely that an adult cat will get sick from it, but if she's never been vaccinated, it's a risk...

Losing it? I wouldn't even tell you what I did this week.

BTW, Badger- I'll be on the lookout for a home for this beautiful girl. Does she need a quiet home, no dogs etc??

Thanks LR, I'm trying to get more information on whether she has lived with other cats, children, etc. although I get the feeling that she has been with this woman for a long time with no other cats around. She looks like a little diva, eh? Anyway, the minute I have more details, I'll post them here.

Just looking at her,I think she's been loved and cared for as an only cat(I don't know why I think so ),it's very sad when these things happen:sad:

Mesaana ! terrific memory !

Yep, I'm the one that fostered a cat who ended up having panleuko. She was separated from the other fosters and was only in the house for a week but 3 of the other fosters got it too...

My big boy Tiger (7months - 9 lbs, very playfull) is looking for a buddy since his foster friends have left. I plan on continuing fostering once my house is clear of the virus so I was thinking if this cat is available for foster - and up to date on her vax - then she could stay with me until she found a permanent home. Although, at 7 years old, and likely an only cat, I'm pretty sure she wouldn't be the best "playmate" for Tiger !! She certainly is beautiful though...

Having said that: If anyone does know of a cat that fits the bill - (younger, playfull, vaccinated) that needs a foster home - let me know !

Julie

When did the vet say it would be safe to go ahead with new fosters?

JulieH, I agree that this little princess wouldn't be a good playmate for a big boy!

On the radio this morning, some Good Samaritan stopped and rescued an orange cat from the median on the Metropolitan.

He was taken to the SPCA where he will likely die. Maybe he would be a good match for you?? He certainly deserves a chance after surviving his ordeal.

Just got an email already for this girl. I asked a bunch of questions and when (if) I get answers I'll pass her along to you Badger.

Badger, I've heard everything from 1 month to 1 year so I'm sot sure what to beleive... I heard 3-6 months most often so I guess I'll go with that.

The vet said that I'd be safe with vaccinated cats though - only thing is there's not many cats brought into the SPCA that are vaccinated with papers to prove it...

On a brighter note, I spoke to the Laval SPCA today: the 2 older kittens I was fostering when the virus hit were rehomed into a different foster to wait out the incubation period and they are doing great !! They aren't sick at all and it's been well over 3 weeks so obvioulsy they did not catch it (which is almost impossible as they slept with Bear the night she started her symptoms and were licking her head the day she died !!)

So, like I said earlier: if anyone knows of a cat that wants to play with my big bouncy Tiger and that has all his/her shots, I have room to foster !
