Pawty season has opened at Hazel Run
October 30 was the 5th anniversary of the arrival of Princess Lil Belle, Ms Muddy Mossy Messy Macie
and Lady (in Waiting) Ridge at Hazel Run. And Halloween was the Sheriff's 7th birthday (a very lucky number of years to be  ). This all meant, of course, that there was a pawty in the works... The Sheriff wanted to sleep in on his birthday, so the Hazel Run Daddy brought his birthday cards over and held them low so Cole could read them, too. Then it was time for a good hearty breakfast and the first of the day's patrols. Because even on a pawty day, the Sheriff and his Deputy never miss their morning rounds.

Finally the morning's duties were done and the Pawty was declared Open.
To start off the festivities, King Ember and Amazing Grace put on a spectacular display of Synchronized Kong Chasing: Even though Grace had a bit of trouble staying in synch once she hit the deep leaves, the Synchronized Kong Chase was a big hit with the rest of the Pack. And, of course, they all had to try their paws at it.

Grace led the way with an amazing leap!
Her Uncle the Sheriff showed a fine talent for the game, as well. Soon, the entire Pack was leaping after wayward Kongs and rolling in piles of leaves and having a fine old time!

The Sheriff enjoyed himself immensely...
...as did the anniversary Girls and the rest of the Pack. In fact, the whole pawty was a big hit and went amazingly well, despite a small difference of opinion between Grace and Deputy Brier... ...which they managed to work out amicably.

As the party wound down, there was time for birthday and anniversary hugs on the deck.
"What a wonderful party that was!" mumbled Sheriff Cole sleepily after a celebratory supper. "Sure was!!" yawned Grace. And she fell into an amazingly deep sleep. The End

Halo will play with a lazer light? We've only had one dog that loved to chase lights--that was Gauge. I'd sit with my back to the french doors and reflect the sunlight off my watch crystal onto the walls and floor. Kept Gauge fascinated for hours!
But none of our subsequent dogs has showed any interest...

No ya wouldn't.
The whole time we were raking them into piles, the dogs were peeing on the leaves. They don't seem to mind, though.

Not spoiled--just appropriately pampered.
