Spotted in our yard this morning

Our friendly neighbourhood raccoon family. Mom and her 3 pups, on a daytime outing. We normally see them during the night, with mom leading her pack with purrs and grunts... but today Bodhi started barking at a tree out front, so I looked, and ran to grab the camera.

Thumbnails first, for Madame Hazel:

And here are the larger versions:

OMG,OMG they are adorable
It's unusual to see them out in the day-time,maybe they got scared out of their place

In our previous house we had a cat door. Mom Coon used to send her kits into our kitchen to get food that way.

We also had a coon nest under our house then - and Dog, do they make a lot of noise. It didn't help that I was nesting too (pregnant), and one night I got up, jumped up and down on the floor above the area where they were gnawing on the foundations, yelling "GET OUT! MY NEST!!". Drove me bat-***** crazy, they did!

Now they're in the neighbour's garden - and they come for their stroll in our yard. Occasionally I'll find coon droppings where they've hidden away with their stash of berries and such, and if we're not careful with rinsing recycling cans, they'll get into the recycling boxes, raising a ruckus on the porch. That's as 'bad' as it gets now.

I'm glad they never got in my backyard , I really don't know how the dogs would react. I think Bailey , being mostly blind but very friendly , would think they are new fosters of mine and would go to greet them

I agree with Frenchy, Marcha. Their butts looks so symmetrical! Did you make them pose for that shot?

Well, actually... Yes! I have developed my own special brand of Raccoon Good Citizen training. One of the requirements is that they moon the camera.

My training with them paid off well, didn't it?
