Canidae - food update

About a month ago I switched my dogs from DVP foods to Canidae. I found the DVP a little overpriced and although my dogs were doing okay on it they were occasionally biting their legs. Since the switch neither dog is biting their legs, their ears are clean and they have the most beautiful coats. Chloe fur is absolutely beautiful and she has finally grown some undercoat, something she lacks because of her thyroid problem. Hunter has always had a rougher coat on his back but it is now soft. Shedding is also down to a minimum.
As an added bonus this food is very affordable. $35.00 U.S. for a 40 pound bag.

Canidae

I buy it in the U.S. in Plattsburgh where my cottage is located. Even with the exchange it is much cheaper. With tax I paid $38.00 U.S. At 15% exchange it comes to about $44.00 canadian. That is a big difference from the $59.00 + tax that it costs here.

Wow, what a great price ... I wish I lived closer to the border. I am paying $61+HST CDN for the same size bag.

Boy, how individual dogs are. Goldie & Aspen have been eating TO Lamb, Barley, & Apple formula for 5 months & Goldie seemed to develop an allergy to something in it (they were eating Solid Gold's Hund-n-flocken before). Goldie developed huge itchy rashes, red ears, redness in her paws, & her first hotspot (Aspen's fine). So, I switched her to DVP Duck & Potato & within 3 days she was 80% better. After being on the Duck & Potato for 1 week, she's now on TO Ocean Blue-so far so good.

She did really well on the DVP & I really like that line, but their formulas are way too low in protein/fat for her & Aspen, & I don't want to have to mix a lot of stuff in it.

My guys are doing very well on the Canidae, too. I really should look into going over the border for it, since I'm paying 57$+tax. I wonder if I could still get the frequent buyer deal, though.

Hmmm saving of 13$/bag x 11 (# of bags to get a free one)= 143 dollars!

Guess that is worth it even if it means losing the free bag, since that's 2 bags worth of food at Cdn prices.

Canidae

I don't know of anywhere over the border from Cornwall where you could get the Canidae but if you could it would make the trip worthwhile. I buy mine at a small store in Plattsburgh.

Yeah, Plattsburg is the closest one according to the store locator on their site. I think it would be worth it to make the drive. Just have to plan ahead a bit.

I think it's only about 45 miles or so. Not a bad drive if the weather is good. Usually there's not much of a hold up at the border here, either.

Hmmmm. 78 miles to Plattsburgh or 81 to Lake Placid. A little further than I thought. Have to make a day-trip out of it.

Canidae

They have never hassled me for the cost of dog food but there is one newbie who always asks if the food contains beef. I had been buying Wolf King, then DVP and now Canidae. None of them contain beef so I have had no problem.
