As long as they don't change their minds I will send them pictures of Ben in the mean time. They really are the perfect family for him. I really don't mind having him one more week , it's been 4 months now , my record time without adopting myself he's so adorable , but I can't have 4 dogs and don't want to stop fostering. I wouldn't be able to do so with 4 dogs. I feel very comfortable letting them adopt him , I'm very happy for Ben.

That was the thought that crossed my mind. Why would they leave it for another week and not come tomorrow instead? I sure hope this doesn't fall through.

I didn't ask why they couldn't come tomorrow. They have days off this week and wanted to do this a week day , but I will be at work. and they live too far to come in the evenings.

Just doing a happy dance for Ben.. I hope this works out for him....
Found a new poem for you Frenchy...when I read it I thought of you... Here in this House.... * I will never know the loneliness I hear in the barks of the other dogs 'out there'. I can sleep soundly, assured that when I wake my world will not have changed. I will never know hunger, or the fear of not knowing if I'll eat. I will not shiver in the cold, or grow weary from the heat. I will feel the sun's heat, and the rain's coolness, and be allowed to smell all that can reach my nose. My fur will shine, and never be dirty or matted. Here in this house... There will be an effort to communicate with me on my level. I will be talked to and, even if I don't understand, I can enjoy the warmth of the words. I will be given a name so that I may know who I am among many. My name will be used in joy, and I will love the sound of it! Here in this house... I will never be a substitute for anything I am not. I will never be used to improve peoples' images of themselves. I will be loved because I am who I am, not someone's idea of who I should be. I will never suffer for someone's anger, impatience, or stupidity. I will be taught all the things I need to know to be loved by all. If I do not learn my lessons well, they will look to my teacher for blame. Here in this house... I can trust arms that hold, hands that touch... knowing that, no matter what they do, they do it for the good of me; If I am ill, I will be doctored. If scared, I will be calmed. If sad, I will be cheered. No matter what I look like, I will be considered beautiful and thought to be of value. I will never be cast out because I am too old, too ill, too unruly, or not cute enough. My life is a responsibility, and not an afterthought. I will learn that humans can almost, sometimes, be as kind and as fair as dogs. * Here in this house... I will belong.* * I will be home. *

Absolutely, all pets should be able to say that. They have a right to say that. The very idea that they are a PET means someone once picked them to love them, and they had no right to betray that love. Yet the shelters are full and there are still discarded pets roaming lost and confused

I gotta agree! It made me cry. Do you know who the author is, Shaykeija? It would be nice if they got credit for this.
I kinda switched the "dog" to my kitties but it works the same. Thank you so much for sharing it. |

omg Shaykeija , I love it ! I just printed it. And now I just want to run home and hug them all ! I specially like this part :
There will be an effort to communicate with me on my level. I will be talked to and, even if I don't understand, I can enjoy the warmth of the words Because I keep explaining to Ben he'll be moving into his new home , with his new family very soon. I want him to understand I am not abandonning him, I'm just doing my job. I do hope he understands. Thank you for posting it Shaykeija ! |

How can he not understand when he finds out what a great home you've found him? He'll love it there!

I am seriously considering woodburning the poem and posting it on my catuary door so when people ask what the H I am doing with this many kitties I can point them to the poem. It would save a whole lot of talking (not that that is a problem ) and would maybe educate a few people too.

It's been confirmed ! Ben's new family called me earlier , both his parents on speaker phone so they could both talk to me and hear me. They are sooo excited ! And I am too They are coming so meet and take him home Saturday morning. I have to say , I was sooo worried that they would change their minds this week ..... They are already talking about buying Ben a winter coat They got stairs installed in their pool , just for their dogs , that's the kind of people they are !

Yipeee!!!! for Ben
Molly can attest to the fact that she was well prepared for life with a new owner when she left you. Whatever you say, they understand I still remember how calm Molly was when I first met her, she wasn't worried at all, she knew Frenchy had found a great home for her and she would have a great life. (I sure hope I'm living up to her expectations) for Frenchy.... it must be so hard to say good bye no matter how good a thing it is.
