Flea Control Products

Just wondering if anyone has tried the various flea drops that can be bought at Walmart and such places. They are much cheaper then the products from the vet and I'm wondering if they work as well.

yes and they are garbage.....get the stuff at the vets. You could try google and look up Hartz. That product has been injuring a lot of pets. Save yourself some time and just get the stuff from the vet.

I think now that the patent has expired on them, WalMart also makes it's own version of the Frontline drops. Frontline controls fleas as well as ticks, but I've not tried the WalMart version of it, yet. If you try it, mybubbles, I'd love to hear what you think of it!

I've tried the walmarts version of frontline..and found it didnt work as well, it wore off in two weeks, and ruby was scratching and itching after I applied it (she's never done this with frontline plus)
. I have also tried 1800 pet meds, generic version of frontline plus called fibrogaurd plus (saves about 20 bucks alltogether for this crew)..and it works JUST AS GOOD AS frontline.

I wish frontline plus would go down some. Its basically ten bucks a tube here..and its like..geesh. Or I wish low cost animal clinics here would offer it discounted. But oh well.
Just thought I'd chime in, seeing that I've tried all three.

Good to know, RR! We also wish Frontline Plus would come down in price now that it's got some competition, but so far we haven't seen a reduction in our tick-prevention bills.

After re-reading what I wrote originaly, I had sounded like a goof. So...here is a much better way of putting it.

Frontline plus :
Pro's : works great, pop top and squeeze applicator. no mess, no fuss. Last our dogs the entire month it says.
Cons: Pricey, and sometimes the applicator tube can be hard to get out of its own packagaing.

Walmarts generic Frontline plus (forget the name forgive me)
Pro's: Cheaper

Cons: dosent work as well (least didnt for me)
ruby ictched and scratched for three days after application
wore off in two weeks

Fibrogaurd plus (i get from 1800petmeds) generic frontline plus:
Pro's: A "little" cheaper than original, works just as well as frontline plus, and had no side effects

cons: have to get dog to sit still, part hair, grab sissors , cut open the top, and it litterally POURS from the applicator onto dog. So if dog moves, you hit wrong spot, or one of your other pets decides to be nosey..you've got spilliage issues. Tried cutting it open to begin with but the bottom is not flat, so that leaves a "partner" holding it..and it becomes a two person job instead of a one person job.
also. apparently only comes in three applicators to a box. When you have multiple dogs, that is annoying.
