Cartoon cat chase, starring Eoin and Byron - Pet forum for dogs cats and humans

Let me start off by saying that our new puppy, Byron, is a very good dog. Surprisingly enough, he is the calmest puppy I have ever met. So when he met our cats, Paddy and Eoin -- whom incidentally had NEVER met a dog-- he promptly and quite loudly, barked an introduction.

Needless to say, the cats freaked out and declared that the basement was theirs and theirs alone and that this loud thing could stay upstairs for all they cared! A few weeks later, Paddy and Byron had learned to tolerate one another (after a few cat hisses and puppy whimpers). My husband and I attribute it to the fact that Paddy has made it clear to Byron that HE IS THE BOSS and that if he comes near him (again), he will receive another thwump to the nose.

Eoin (pronounced "Owen") is a different story. He is the epitome of the term "fraidy cat". So one day, he surprised us by showing his mug upstairs! Byron was asleep at my feet and was dead to the world...so Eoin had a chance to "see the light of day" once more. However, this experience was short lived. Once Byron's radar caught wind of Eoin, he bolted upright and went to "say hello" (more like charged over to say hello...) and, of course, the cat freaked. His limbs were running at full kitty tilt....but because of our wood floors, he wasn't getting a lot of traction....

So picture a Warner Bros cartoon scene where the animal being chased is moving ever so slowly, but with their limbs running full tilt. That was Eoin. Byron's reaction to all this was to stop mid way and sit with his head cocked, watching the cat make a spectacle of himself!
