Attack of the Hummingbirds
So, this morning I went out to get the hummingbird feeder to refill and both the male and female were hovering nearby. So, as I take the feeder down, I can hear and feel them around my head!!!!! This is the first time they have gotten that close to me, usually they will stay several feet away.
Guess I had better make sure the feeder is always ready for them!!!

My sister had one that would tap on the window when the feeder was empty. So much for the expression 'bird brain'.

Don't you just love that sound?
If you have a red baseball type cap, I found out this year that they love them. When I'm out filling the feeders I wear it. They seem to think I'm just another, really big, feeder when I have it on!

Never thought of trying to wear something red!
I just discovered that my bird feeder (that I bought YESTERDAY from Petsmart) has a leak!!!! Of course I threw out the receipt because who would have thought that a bird feeder would leak. The male will actually go and sit on the clothesline near the red "thingy" to keep the lines together. Very pretty to look at for sure!!

Have you heard their fighter-jet impersonation yet? They zoom in sounding like little fighter jets... First time I heard it I ducked Yep, cowed by something the size of a large dragonfly!
Bummer about the leak

Well, I went and got a new feeder....set it out and went in the screened porch for a bit (since we actually had sunshine today!) and I heard this sound....looked around and the male hummingbird had gotten himself into the screened room and couldn't find his way out, so my partner took two patio seat cushions and trapped him and set him free......
Here's a picture of the little guy freaking out in the screened room.... God, he was LOUD!!!! He has been back several times to have a quick drink and then flies off......they are sooooooo beautiful!!!

Glad you were able to get the little guy caught and set free. They are such an amazing little bird.

Part 2
Well, for the 3rd time, the little male hummingbird has gotten in our screen room (someone keeps forgetting to close the screen door )
So I am dealing with that, but......today we had a "few" seagulls arrive! I don't live near the ocean....I am not on a lake or river....so??? What started as about 25 birds this afternoon has multiplied! Seriously...about 30 minutes ago I lost count at 130! Without being cruel....is there anyway to discourage them from coming to the property? There is bird everywhere! I cannot even sit on the deck because when they fly over.....

Do you have any idea what it is they are eating in the grass? If you can figure that out and eliminate it, they'll likely stop coming. With luck, eventually they'll eat it all, anyway, and move on!

No idea what they are into....(but Buster is very curious about the bird poop...that can't be good???)
We have 1.5 acres and each of our neighbours have at minimum an acre and these freakin birds are everywhere. There might be 100 in my yard and two minutes later they take flight and go visit the neighbours. Our roof is "white" now......uuuggghhhh...house is almost sold...don't need bird poop! On a good note....haven't seen one of the huge blackbirds/crows in a few days!

Ah, yes....irresistible bird poop! Canine delicacy...
The gulls must be getting something out there, though, or they wouldn't stick around...unless they just like whitewashing your house Is there a university near you somewhere that might have an ornithologist on staff? I'd suggest a University Extension office, but I don't know what the Canadian equivalent is

Maybe because we're having so much rain , there's more worms for the to hunt ?
Or they just love Buster's smell |
