Jemma's going to the vet... again...

She went and gave herself a hematoma or maybe it's an absess, at the base of her right ear. Off to the vet tomorrow morning... Hopefully it won't be a major surgery or anything.

lol no, it was supposed to show her ear sticking out, but it doesn't. It just looks like her normal mutt ear there.

This is the bubble:

And this is the extreme mutt ear caused by the bubble:

It does hurt her if you touch it... She either scratched her ear too hard (after getting into the medi-cal ) or it happened when she met Leila and got into a scuffle... That's what I figure, but who knows. She still plays so rough with Boo..

Hey Prin...My boy had that last summer! Except it was a bite! I saw an earwig come out of his ear and went to look at his ear and it was similar to Jemma's...except my vet said it was not the earwig..it was a bee or something else...she said it could also be some form of trauma...Luckily it all worked out and the swelling went away..but Winston's ear is very thick and it was really swollen to the point it looked like a ball..

Good Luck with Jemma!

Yup, really looks like a hematoma:sad: mr.floyd had one, and now has his gimpy ear because it dissolved itself before we could get it drained and bandaged. Adds character to him I suppose.
Hopefully Jemms will be alright, for her.

Could she have just scratched due to the stress of having 2 new visitors. I know Winnie licks herself to no end when she is stressed...maybe Jemma just scratches herself

More likely would be that she flared up from eating the newfs' food.

Jemma's going to the vet...again

Belle had a few of those and required surgery. My friends lab had allergies and had a number of them in her life. The last time the vet did not operate but drained it with a new procedure.
