well, shelter from the cold for the kitty but not the most ideal for a kitten.

But the kitten is too friendly and too young and healthy to be spared the chance of living with a family.

It was just an offer because I couldn't bear the thought that the kitten would be released out onto the street. If you are going to keep her and find her a home then that is infinitely better. Best of luck with all the kitties. Keep us posted.

C-S,I really don't know what to say,I am saddened and feel a bit guilty about not beeing able to help these kitties, the same way I feel going in to our HS with donations.
I feel like tearing open all the cages take all the unhappy cats home, but that's just not possible:sad:
I hope after all your efforts with spay/neuter etc, just like last year with the 5 kitties, there will somehow be a solution

I hope hope you don't put him back outside. There has to be another soluation. It will be getting colder outside soon. That and also him having food, water and shelter everyday for as long as he has been at the Vets, to then throw him back into the streets, to fend for himself. He will most definatly lose his trust in humans...again.

I hope you don't do that.

ACO22 , catsnatcher-CDN is an extremely devoted volunteer to the homeless cat situation. She is looking for a family/foster for this cat because there is nothing else to do. There is NO other options.

I'm not too keen on giving a cat to a rescue for 2 reasons:

1. they are overloaded. I don't want to put Martin in a room with 10 or more cats. Situations like that are not always a better solution.

2. I don't want to pass on the responisibility to someone else.

Thank you AC022 for your help. You never know someone at the rescue may know someone....
First just let me start off by saying, I didn't mean to offend, if I did. I can see that you have improved his life in a short while.

I would not give up on rescues groups though. Here we have alot of rescue groups that foster cats in their homes. Some have a couple cats, while others only foster one..Expecially if it is a special needs cat, like Martin.

I would give it a second thought, if you have not already. I just can't think of putting him back outside, after all you have done to him.

What about Martin's lover? Are you trying to find her a home as well? Do you have more info on her? Is she FIV+ too? Maybe we can spread the word about her too and at least help her.

AC022,

I'm not offended. I am absolutely looking for a foster for Martin as well. Nothing has come up over the last month that he's been at the vet. No foster, no adopter. Nothing.

Unless it is a home where all the cats have their own personal space, I do not believe that putting him in a room (a rescue specifically) with over 10 cats is a better situation. Cats cannot share confined spaces with several other cats.

Also, Martin was a housecat who's not afraid of humans and would fare better in an environment where he doesn't have to compete for attention.

Canine14,

Martin's lover (Lola) and the kitten will have their own bios by tonight/tomorrow. All my efforts were concentrated on Martin's adoption. But Lola is freakin gorgeous, long hair black and white. I thought she was absolutely feral but within a few hours at the vet, she was purring up a storm!

I'll be asking Frenchy to post her bio and the kittens bio this evening.

I may have just bought Martin and Lola 2 weeks in someone's garage. I'll know by 5:00 pm.

( no place for the kitten as of yet. I'm hoping for a miracle on my way to the vet this afternoon)

I left the kitten at the vets.

Lola and Martin are in the temporary garage for the next 2 weeks. They seem ecstatic though they don't get along.

I disagree. Mine are all in one area and are happy as clams. They have hiding places to go into when feeling stressed out but most choose to stay out in the open. They love to stalk each other, share each others' toys and pounce on one other. Occasionally one or two are not the best of friends but they just ignore each other. They all sure know how to agree on one thing though: my lap! It may also help that all are spayed/neutered. Please do not blanket judge multicat situations as even every home needs to be assessed on a one-to-one basis.

I am glad the cats are in the garage and warm and fed. I am sure the kitten will be scooped up immediately. Lola will find someone; she is so beautiful. Why don't you reconsider a rescue for Martin as ACO22 posted?

Well, we'll have to agree to disagree. However, I do agree that it depends on the environment and whether they do have the space to hide or call their own. Unfortunately, rescues don't always have that kind of space to allocate each cat.

1. No rescues in Montreal have space for one more cat
2. I don't want to pass on the responsibility of getting him adopted onto someone else (especially someone who has a house full cats trying to get adopted).

Maybe the person who is sharing his garage with them, will either take them or talk to people who might want to adopt them. Keeping fingers crossed.

I don't think so. I'm really pushing my luck with the garage. They don't like cats at all.
