20 Cats to be Killed!!!

EMERGENCY!! EMERGENCY!! We have become aware of the unexpected death of a very kind lady who spent her life helping cats!
She has left behind approximately TWENTY CATS!! These cats are mostly all under 4 years old, they are SPAYED and NEUTERED and DECLAWED housepets - not feral or stray!!!.

Can you PLEASE help to save their lives? They will be killed if no refuge can be found. Can you adopt one or two?? Or even foster a couple of them until we are able to place them permanently?? If you can help, contact Lucky Rescue OR Alaine at (450) 465-7054. Please help to save these lives!!

OMG Lucky, that is so sad,I wish she could have provided for her cats in her will, but maybe she had no money.
Why on earth would they kill 20 perfectly healthy house-cats?
I know the answer to that, stupid question
Maybe other shelters in Canada could get involved,if they take four or five cats each, the problem would be solved.
Declawed cats must be easier to adopt out!!

Yes, declawed cats are normally easier to adopt out. However, this time of year is very bad, what with THOUSANDS of pets who were dumped on "moving day", plus kitten season.

We have only two weeks to get these cats to safety, which is when the lease on the apartment is up.

We are trying to find out if there is any money for boarding these cats.

We are begging people to foster them, plus asking every other rescue in the area. Sadly, they are all full, for the reasons mentioned above - irresponsibility.

Anyone else reading this - GET YOUR PETS SPAYED AND NEUTERED PLEASE!!!!

Yes Lucky, make them famous on the news and in the paper, people just have to react to such a story.
Every nursing-home in the Montreal area should take a couple, great therapy for lonely seniors and lots of cuddles for the cats.
Even inmates in jail have benefitted from caring for cats, maybe they could take a few to jail....
I could take 10......wishful thinking
Sorry, did not mean to be glib about the situation,I know you guys will do everything you possibly can to save these kitties.

4 cats are now adopted, and two others (a BIG thanks to Dr. Louise Lavallee of the Dorion clinic) are safe at our vet.

14 left in desperate need.

For fostering, they need to be close enough to bring the cat to our adoption clinics.

For adopting, it depends on whether transporation could be worked out.

Thank you for caring!

LR I have a friend who is trying to have this broadcasted over a Russian Language Radio Station in the Toronto Area. Would this be okay? If so, maybe you can PM me and let me know what you'd want them to say??
Thx

I've been so busy with my grooming courses and moving that I havent visited in a while....this literally brings me to tears....I will put up a sign at the groomers here in Laval if thats ok and see if it brings us any luck. I pray to God you are not talking about the Westmount Cat Lady

P.S. I can offer free grooming for 1 yr to anyone that adopts these cats (once I finish my courses in a month) ....maybe that will help too

Yes ! already I have 1 or possibly 2 that can be placed...its too late to call u guys now but I will tomorrow!!!

YOU GUYS ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Luba, this is wonderful to know for the last resort. I will email that rescue with more details. All I know is that some cats are very friendly and others are shy. Of course we would send the calm ones to TO. I hope to have some pics soon. And the cats are all apparently under 5 years old.

Vicky, this isn't the Westmount Cat Lady. These cats are in St. Laurent. Whoever wants to adopt one or two can call the number I listed above and make arrangements to go see them! These cats are not in the possession of Lucky Rescue - we are merely trying to help get them homes.

I"m so excited!!!!!! Debbie will be thrilled.

A million "Thank You"s!!

And Sneaky - thank you for caring.

I just had an offer from someone willing to assist in transport to Toronto. He has a pick up truck so I'll say he can take 2/3 cats in crates?

gee, this is wonderful.

As I said, I'm getting all the info 3rd hand, so I will find out tomorrow about exactly what is happening and get back to you!!!

Naturally, the woman who was left to tend all these cats is in a bit of a panic and a little disorganized. It's great to know there are options for these poor babies!

I forgot to mention that one of these cats is feral, and was never tamed. The lady left instructions in her will that he was to be euthanized because she feared no one would want him.

If there is ANYONE out there who could give this cat refuge and not care if they can touch him or not, or is willing to work with him, please let me know. Time is of the essence. He is declawed as well.

Vicky, please let me know what happens with the adoptions. Whoever is planning to adopt them, tell him/her to say that Lucky Rescue sent them!

Luba, we are not sure how many cats are merely frightened by the chaos that is going on, or how many are actually shy or friendly. I'll explain all this to the ON rescue, although I"m sure she knows all about that!

It's natural they're going to be scared right now, transition will take time.

The local radio address will be done in Toronto to the Russian community and hopefully we'll get more exposure that way.

I dont think these babies have much to worry about now

We MAY have someone who will take the feral cat, and two others who are very shy. Keep your fingers crossed.

There was a very strange call from someone in ON, saying she would take ALL of the cats!! She said someone in Quebec gave her the information, but refused to say who.

Update on the radio broadcast for those interested (if you can understand Russian/Polish/Ukie...some things are similar to Russian)

1430 am Toronto
10pm-midnight. have no idea when they'll stick the plea in.

They also broadcast via internet - if you don't get good reception, that'd be an option :
