Hi
I'm just introducing myself as I'm new to this site.
I have grown up with pets and have had pets all my life. I am now soon to be 53, my husband 55 and over the last few years have had to say goodbye to our two german shepherds and a mintoy poodle along with two cats. My one shepherd was 14 & had lived a very good life and we miss him dearly. Our other shepherd was only 9 & passed very suddenly with a heart attack. She was much too young. Our little guy - the poodle was 14. Lesson to be learned- don't have multiple pets close to the same age. Our cats were 20 & 13. We now have two calico sister cats - Cally & Zoe and we can't imagine life without them. They fill our days with purrs & sillyness . We are missing having a dog in our life very much and we are now visiting shelters to find a new member for our family. |

Welcome to pets.ca. Losing our beloved animals can be the worst pain we will ever experience. I can't imagine a home without animals and I think it's wonderful that you are looking to shelters for your next addition. You might also want to try petfinder.com which lists shelters and rescues. And please do post pix of your kitties !

Welcome to the forum Appus155. So sorry for the loss of your dear family members. It sure is a tough go when we have to say goodbye. No matter how long we are blessed to have them in our lives, it just is never long enough is it.
Cally and Zoe must be a joy to have around. Can't wait to see pictures of them, and hopefully of their new brother or sister too. |

I'm so sorry to hear of your recent losses, Appus155. It's always hard, but when they come close together sometimes it's overwhelming.
We worry about the age factor a lot--we have 6 dogs, all within 18 months of each other in age. So I certainly do hear you about the lesson to be learned. I'd also love to see pics of your kitties if you have any to post And for sure post a pic of the new addition when you find him or her.
