Lightbulb OPINIONS WANTED - Pets.ca redesign for the OTHER (Non BB) parts of Pets.ca

Hi members,

Pets.ca is going to be completely redesigned in the next couple of months and hopefully by the end of this year this new design will go live. This redesign will NOT affect the bulletin board except for new colours. The redesign is for all OTHER parts of Pets.ca so we'd love it if you would poke around the other sections of this site

This is a fairly large project and work will begin next week.

We would love to have some input from members on what features you would like to see, what could be done better. Does anything "bug" you about Pets.ca? Do you feel anything is 'missing' from Pets.ca etc. Please do not be shy, be brutally honest...that's the only way we can improve and make this a better community for pet lovers.

Thanks SO much everyone and feel free to post right here in this thread, or PM me.

Best!
Marko

Here's one suggestion - when I reply to a message, I have to use my back key several times to go back to the list of posts I was reading. Perhaps a button to quickly return to where I was???

(That is, unless I've missed an easy procedure that's already there )

I can't think of anything off the top of my head. But I'll post any suggestions if I can think of any.

Thanks Jan but this is NOT for the bulletin board...it's for everywhere else on pets.ca like the live links at the bottom of this page.
Thx! - Marko

I think the main page should be more 'attractive'. As it stands, a lot of the links are all bunched over on the left side of the homepage, which is fine - but it blends too much. At first glance, it's a LOT of words, not enough 'fancy stuff' or pictures to entice.
I personally haven't looked at a lot of the other pages aside from the BB and a few others, because nothing captures my attention.

Maybe make the links for every section more colorful, interesting (possibly a small photo similiar to the avatars?) with each link, or at least the links that seem to get used more often.

My suggestions are still the same as last time:

1. Use tabs so there is much less clutter on the home page.
2. Get rid of the dorky logo.
3. Use softer colours.

Oh no, marko...I like the blues in the BB. Is the color scheme really going to change? The blue is so easy on the eye. (Please don't choose red! )

I never go to the rest of the site... I'm already spending too much time as it is and there's really nothing that interests me there... (Well, not that I know of, anyway, since I don't go there ) It typically takes maybe 20 - 60 seconds on a good day to change to a page that I haven't visited before, and that adds up if you're trying to navigate a site. So I usually go right to the BB and bypass even the home page.

For the admin: doesn't vBulletin have the option to give members the ability to choose their own preferred colour scheme?

I'm with the majority and the home page is too wordy and white! I don't think that cluttering it with a bunch of advertisements and too many links will help either. Maybe just a different hue, font and reorganization of information that's already there?

In any event, nothing appeals to my eye and I find the bright yellow ticker at the top only draws me to the

I don't know if it's of any help for your redesign - I found that keeping the 7 sins of landing page design in mind when redesigning my website made a big difference. Here's a link to a summary:

And here's a link to the webinar itself:

Hi Chris,

i do not think that is possible by just clicking the quote button. What you CAN do is select the text from any thread and paste it into the reply box THEN highlight the text and click the icon that is available fro every reply box. Hope that helps.

BTW - No biggie but THIS thread is NOT for bulletin board improvement it's for the REST of pets.ca

On that front the redesign is going well!

thx - Marko
