I guess it's time to say Hello...

Hi Everybody,

My sister told me about this board. (You know my sister as Glasslass.) Since I'm a dog person, this seems like a good idea.

I'm quite fond of Akitas. I know they're not for everyone, but I get along with them quite well. I'm comfortable with a dog who understands exactly what I want, and still says "No" if she disagrees with me. They balance that independence with unflinching loyality, and I value that a lot.

My current Akita is Sage. (She's actually an Akita/Husky mix.) Sage got her name because of her thoughtful nature. She studies things like; how door knobs work, how to release a dead-bolt...etc. She's a very laid-back alpha. she doesn't dominate, she manages.

Welcome to the forum, Rausmas. I'm glad to hear Glasslass told you about us. One of my dogs is a Siberian Husky and I love the breed. There are others here as well and also Akitas. I hope you enjoy it here and I guess your sister told you we'd love to see pics of Sage.

"Sis" with a photo

Hey all! Just found out my bro finally has signed on after ghosting for a looong time. I can't resist posting a photo of Sage. Her age is within 2 days of Corky; both are just 10 weeks old in this shot. The difference in size is much greater now! This was just a few days after she was adopted from the Akita rescue. Just a side note, he fostered a male akita for 4 months who just went to his forever home earlier this month.

Oh my, that is quite a size difference!!! Kewl pix and welcome to Glassglass' sister!! Hope you enjoy it here - we are not all sarcastic tho. So I guess you'll just have to put up with those of us who seem to be under the illusion we are normal.

About the sarasm

Sarcasm is something I have to watch myself on. Most often, I don't realize I'm coming across that way. I don't mean anything by it, I just have a very dry sense of humor. (Sometimes refered to as gallows humor)

However, the darker aspects of my humor normally doesn't show itself where dogs are concerned. I have too much respect for them.

Sage, on the other hand, isn't above playing practical jokes on us hapless two-legs whenever she gets the chance. She also seems to enjoy reminding her people that we're not as smart as we like to think. There's a lot of stories I could on that subject.

My last Akita was the same way.

lol It's ok to be sarcastic. I wasn't offended. It was just funny. But if you worry about it, just put (sarcasm) after sarcastic remarks..

Glasslass is one of the great ones here, so you have a lot to live up to.
