Angry Kitten abandoned right in front of my eyes

I was with my friend at her house and we were just sitting on the driveway talking like we do all the time because her house is impossibly hot and we see this white van pull off to the side of the road. We were wondering what the heck they were doing when we heard "Quick get back in the car! Let's go!" When the pressed the brake down to put the car in gear we saw something behind the car. It was dark so I went to my car which was parked on the side of the road and turned the headlights on so we could see down the street and we saw a kitten, that wasn't much older than my little one sitting in the middle of the road! We were appalled and so furious that these people would abandon this kitten in the middle of nowhere instead of taking it to a rescue or shelter. The poor thing was terrified and lost. It had no problem with other people, but it doesn't seem to like the smell of the other cats because my friend has a couple of cats in her home and the kitten wouldn't come near the house. Fortunately for the kitten it was abandoned in a place where there were people who saw it and were able to try and help it, and luckily my friend has some cats so we were able to get the poor thing some food (you could see and feel, it's ribs so we knew it needed some food) and it is being taken care of and it is a really pretty gray tabby calico mix, and seems to be very friendly around people. I just can't believe that they would do that, especially with 2 witnesses to it!

Thank goodness you were there to help this kitten. Do you think your friend will keep the poor thing?

That's just cold. To leave a little baby like that alone, with no food or shelter. People are just cruel.

Unfortunately this is not isolated. We picked up two small 'breeding' partners in a crate, thrown in the back of the racing track. It was just by chance they were found. Puppies and kittens in boxes...I won't get into it..sorry.

Thank you so very much for helping this little one. Don't worry though - KARMA, KARMA, KARMA!

I think the way people treat animals says so much about their spirit.
Needless to say, karma karma karma to all involved.
Thank you for helping that vulnerable kitten. Fate put you there...

Cruelty absolutely outrages me. For the life of me I can't understand any excuse for this sort of thing, which happens all too frequently. That's how we got our first kitten---from a paper bag of 3 2 month old kittens thrown in a ditch near our house. We took one and neighbours took others. I know it was dark, but it was too bad you didn't get the licence plate number to report them to police.

It seems like everytime I come and read threads on this website. I either cry/almost cry. I

I just wish people like that could be put into a situation where they would feel the same as that poor innocent kitten did. If they knew how it felt, they wouldn't do it. But they have no hearts.

Sammi, thank you and the others for rescuing this poor baby,so many people are lacking the basic ingredient we as humans are supposed to have, compassion for other living beings and I really hope one day they will suffer

I don't know if she is planning on keeping it, because her family already has 4 cats and I don't know if they want to take in another one, but she will definitely try and find it a home and not just abandon it like its previous owner. Her mom is also very upset that these people did this and she understands that cat's are dependent on people and it will most likely die if they don't take care of it. It may end up going to a shelter though if they can't find one of their friends to take it in. But that will be the last choice and it's still better than abandonment.

Thumbs up update

My friend found a home for the kitten, so now it has a place to live where people are going to take care of it

It's a shame how we treat cats seeing how they were worshiped long ago. My sister found a cat in a dumpster in Ottawa. He had his 13th birthday a few months ago. But yeah, glad to see the kitten's doing well.

Update

The kitten has found a home with one of the neighbors and now has a home and people to take care of it. Happy ending to a potentially tragic story.
