"golden light" makes honey beanies!

It's hard to take bad photos in such a wonderful light, even if the background sucks! here are a few i snapped earlier today, they're not meant to be perfect - just sweet! LOL

sunny maika after a hard run:

galloping lady!

wheeeeeeee!

Ze Big Bean:

mom, can i go play now?

serious doggy:

after a hard run:

Fabulous beanie shots as usual. I particularly like the "Mom, can I go play now" shot.

Beautiful pics TD, gorgeous lighting like that makes all the difference in the world doesn't it?

Great pics, TD! They always look so happy...even when they're being so serious!

Taking photos this time of year is great--the sun is so low and the light is unbeatable, isn't it?...problem is, we've had too many clouds... And we don't have any snow, either. It was 43 today (~6 C)...unheard of for December! The grass is green for Pete's sake! In December!!! What's with that!?

I won't say it but it starts with a G and ends with a warming.

Great pics, TD! When I master photoshop, I'll put Maika by the ocean instead of in front of trucks.

oh gosh, i won't go tell them that to inflate their melons any more, LOL

unfortunately, maika is a paperless product from a local BYB... we "rescued" her after her first home couldn't keep her. She's actually small for an akita female, she doesn't have the big "bear head" but that might come later with age. Her rear is also too straight and her color, while awesome in my eyes, is considered "blah" in the akita world (showdogs are typically much darker, or have richer reds, darker browns, etc).

dakotah has the structure, movement and papers but he's too riddled with "faults" to make it in the show world, he could win a few points and we might show him for fun, but that's it. He's considered an "undermarked pinto", his ears are too big, his lips should be tighter and all black, and his coat is turning out to be too thin and short. No idea where that comes from as both his parents have correct coats. We were hoping he'd at least grow a "winter coat" but it's not happening so far. sigh.

Of the two, Maika is closest to the akita standard. How ironic is that?

Wow, that's a lot of technical stuff to know. I'm finding that I'm getting more and more interested in the world of "showing" but I don't have a clue what to look for in a breed, any breed, for that matter, lol. And I believe it takes a significant amount of money to show as well, right? Yeah, so that pretty much leaves me out..lol

if you can find a good COE breeder who can be your mentor, it's quite easy to learn the breed standards, find shows to assist and learn how it works, go to conformation classes, read books, watch videos, speak to as many breeders at the shows as you can, etc.... it comes with time and practice Also the entry costs are not that high, it's the travel and setup that can get expensive (if you need to stay at a hotel, pay for food, gas, etc). Oh and grooming as well as show equipment of course...

i used to show my dobies and learned sooo much from my breeder and just being "in it". we laughed, we cried, we won ribbons and lost our minds sometimes. what a hobby, eh?

Awe, that sounds like so much fun! Maybe I'll look into it! I also wonder how to pick out a puppy. You know, what to look for in case I ever wanted to show her or him. It fascinates me, but I'd have no clue what to look for in a pup. Anywho...
Thanks, TD!
