Dog has abdominal pain/discomfort
Hello, my 3 year old golden doodle stopped sleeping through the night on Thursday night. He had a regular poo and pee around 1:30 am but kept pacing back and forth for the rest of the night. In the morning he went to the park, chased the ball and seemed like his old self until he came home. Throughout the day his weird behaviour continued, he kept pacing around the house and had a hard time staying down once he would lay down. Last night at around 4:00 am we woke up with him crying/whimpering and running around the room in obvious pain. We took him to the emergency clinic and the Vet was able to find that when she touched part of his abdominal area he cried out in pain again. They did xrays and a CPL Snap test and everything looked normal. The vet prescribed Tramadol (pain medication). Two hours after taking the Tramadol he vomited (for the first time). Didn't feed him yet today but he took two regular poos and a diarrhea one. Is this a good sign? What should we do next? The emergency clinic said that if he vomits again, we should take him in for further testing (ultrasound) and intravenous. Hearing him cry and not being able to do anything about it breaks my heart...Help please!!!!

Sorry, you must sick yourself with worry. A regular poop is often taken as a sign there is not a blockage but those are very confounding symptoms. I hope he is OK.

Thank you for replying. I am worried sick, every time I hear him cry I feel physically sick. Being 6 months pregnant is not the best time to deal with this...

Sorry I have no advice for you except maybe a revisit to your vet. I am sure being 6 mths pregnant really does not help at all. Let us know how he is doing over the next few days. patti oh, and, welcome!

Same this morning? Vomit or not, if he still seems to be in pain I'd be back to the Vet. Good thoughts for both of you.

Thanks for the follow up. He vomited at 4:00 am so we are back at the emergency clinic again. Hopefully the ultrasound will give us more insight on what is happening. Thank you for the good thoughts, much appreciated.
