Beautiful doves Chico2. We've had a couple of doves around our feeder lately along with Pigeons, Starlings, Chickadees, House Finches, and oh yes....Cardinals!

They look so soft and gentle, Chico, and unfortunately we don't have them down here.

Melinda, these two were sitting in my Magnolia-tree just outside my bed-room window..
The Mourning-Doves usually make at least one nest in my Blue Spruce in the front, they are kind of dumb, because their nests are usually very visible, hence the eggs or babies get taken GF,Mourning-Doves are very common here, lots of them around, they somehow look very fragile and soft.

That is such a shame, that they don't hide their nests. You are lucky having such a lovely dove, I'd be envious but I got a great sighting today, and didn't even think to grab the camera. Duh! Anyway, by the time I figured what it was, it flew off. A juvenile Crimson Rosella. I've been hearing their bell like chiming call and thinking I couldn't be so lucky. I've only had them here a couple of times in 35 years, they come, they eat all the berries off the Cotoneasters, then are gone.

I hope he sticks around for you, GF! Beautiful birds!
Our birds love cotoneaster berries, too!

Nicest sighting I had, and it was a long time ago , was a Mistletoe bird that come down to check out the cotoneaster berries. They're not even as big as a sparrow but you can't miss them.
http://birdsinbackyards.net/species/...-hirundinaceum I have fingers crossed that the rosellas stay for a while. I only ever used to see them on our trips down to dog shows at Hamilton, and those and blue wrens are the two birds I really wished were in our area. No wrens yet. Anyway, enough, I shouldn't start chattering about birds on Chico's thread. |
