un neutered dogs and prostate cancer
Murphy is 8 months old now and not neutured. he is currently on prednisone due to our previous vet over vaccinating him.pred is the only thing that helps him.we are trying to get him off and gving him a hemopathic remedy to help reverse the negative effects that the vaccinations have done. the holistic clinic that we go to now says i can't get him neutered until he's off the pred and he has to be off it for at least 2 weeks. i've heard that if dogs aren't neutered and not breeding they are more proned to getting prostate cancer. I just wondering how true this is and approx what age you would need to be concerned with that?

That neutering reduces the risk of cancer is a fallacy promoted by organizations that have an interest in having dogs neutered in order to reduce the number of homeless dogs. There is insignificant health benefit or risk to neutering.
FACT: Neutering nominally INCREASES the risk of cancer. FACT: Neutering nominally DECREASES the risk of enlarged prostate. The only reason to neuter is to eliminate the risk of impregnation. Which should be done to every dog that is not a stud dog. And, in my opinion, many of the dogs that are used as studs. (the ones that aren't dual champions) On the other hand, spaying significantly DECREASES the risk of mammary cancer, particularly prior to the first heat cycle. Brood bitches should be spayed after their last litter as there is a significant health benefit.

Furthermore, I'd be much more concerned with all the steroids (prednisone) that vets are prescribing like candy.

Steroids with long time use can cause liver damage, which can lead to liver failure. What are his symptoms to the after effects of the vaccines ????

As soon as he is well enough I would get him neutered.People with intact dogs will debate the reasons to neuter, here are a few
Elimination of the risk of testicular cancer. Eliminates unwanted litters. Reduce risk of prostatitis. Reduced risk of perianal tumors. Reduced urge to roam and fight. Elimination or reduction of spraying or marking if neutered prior to six months or before the onset of these behaviors. Elimination of the risk and spread of sexually transmitted diseases |

You may want to try vitamin E (800). You can get them at any pharmacy and this will help to boost his immune system.

You should also split the vaccines up. Getting them all in one day can make a doggy very sick.

Or consider not giving any more vaccines.
