Pineapple Kitty!

Whenever Kyuubi sleeps, his fur forms little spikes. If you pet him, the spikes go away, but eventually re-form. Here's a close up:

Anybody know why this happens? My guess would be he's too warm.

My kitties do the same thing. I think it has something to do with the length of fur or something. It's cute either way!

Not sure why it happens, my Duffy has shorthair with some medium length fur also gets it in certain spots but not all over

My other cat Azrael, has short hair and it feels very different. Not only is it coarser, but also doesn't feel as thick.

Many of my friends change their mind of which one is their "favorite" after petting both cats. Kyuubi is by far softer. Which brings me to something that I always wondered...

This question is for those with 2+ pets. Does your friends/family/vet(or any one else that interacts with your pets) tell you which of your pets is their favorite or the one they like more? It happens to me all the time! I never asked them which one they like more. I would say 95% of the people that my cats have met, firmly picked one over the other and told me why. It doesn't bother me, but I just find it to be odd behavior...

In fact I been keeping score! So far Kyuubi is in the lead: 17-14. Azrael was in the lead, but when I had a family get-together at my place (when Kyuubi got burnt), most sided with Kyuubi for his soft fur. Azrael probably lost points for jumping on the table and pawing at some of the food before dinner started.
