First Time Away from Home

Okay, Sadie's down at the dentists' going under...getting her 'braces'

I didn't wanna leave her her first time away from us!

She is gonna be p'd off at me when she wakes up.
No food / water this morning and let me tell ya she wasnt too happy about that one!

Me gave her a big kiss and hug then they took her away sniffles!

We will be able to pick her up this afternoon sometime.

I'll let you know how it works out!

This was this morning....she just went with her didn't even look back at me! LOL so funny!

((((hugs)))) Luba!

I know the feeling you have about leaving her. I can never get over that feeling when I have to leave any of my dogs.

Take some pictures of her new teeth when she comes back.

Have you called the vet yet to see how she is making out?

Yes they said, don't worry she's doing just fine

Ya I'll take pics of the braces, (incline plate) should be very interesting
I hope she accepts them and doesn't try to paw them out of her mouth.

Ok I got a call from the doctor

She did GREAT!!

They had to do some gum surgery as well and grind down the lower front teeth as they were beginning to ulcerate the roof of her mouth.

She is awake and alert and sitting up. So far no E-Collar as she's not scratching at her face (whew)

She can come home today

Ahhhhh sigh
Much better, knot in tummy going away now!

I brought Sidney over to comfort me lmao while she was gone

Whew! Glad thats over atleast for now!

We just brought her home. She's dopey but still her playful self.
She nearly knocked me over well actually she did lmao when she saw me, kisses all over ahhhh my baby!

I haven't taken a real good look at the incline plate *braces yet her gums are sensitive. The dr needed to do some surgery on her gums and grind down some teeth as well.

Otherwise it's pretty much a strict 24 surveillance on her so she doesn't try getting it out or chew on anything hard.

But we are HOME!! and I'm happy!

She had some mashed potato's to eat...and drank a little water.

Did I say how much I hate the stink of downtown
ugh!

Oh well,I can just see how pampered she will get now,but it's good it's over
Also,I have NEVER heard of a dog getting braces, but it must have been needed...I can just picture Sadies smile with these wire-braces
But I don't suppose that is exactly what she has
I had a cat once with an over-bite,she looked like a Siber(sp?)-tooth Tiger

Ahh thx ladies!

She is resting now and comfy!

The incline plate is white & molded around the teeth u can hardly see it there.
Unfortunately this is needed or she would need to have several teeth pulled, including her canines. This will work out fine says the dentist because her teeth are still young and soft enough to be shaped easily.

Awwww, poor little girl. Just wait until her teeth are in the right position... all the better to bite with. And all the better to squeak the toys with.

but what does her boyfriend think?? kissing a gal with braces hmmmmm. oh sadie, you are one spoiled little gal, but that is a good thing . charlie is oldish and some of her teeth have snaped, the vets says it is fine as it would happen naturally in wild, but she looks more and more like a pirate every year, har har me hearties (charlie says dont tell sadie, cause sadie is fancy gal and charlie a bloody pirate of the high seas). charlie says 'Now walk the plank you stupid human, and fill me bowl before you do'. and the crowd sings 'what do you do with a drunken sailor earli in the morning, horay and up she rises' lol, lol, me so not funny

Bad news :(

Well, after bringing her home I was curious about how these things look in her mouth.

So, I looked on one side...then the other.

Hmmmm I thought, it looks like there is only ONE side done and the other side is really really swollen and tender. Bleeding a little as well.

So the bleeding stops but starts again.

I call the dentist...explain what I see

One of the INCLINE PLATES IS MISSING!!!

So I told her this happened before she was turned over into my care, Sadie has been by my side since the entire time, there's no way this happened when I got her back

So tomorrow she has to be anaestetized again and have another procedure done! I called the vet hospital and told them to look for this thing in the cage she was in or around that area. I hope she didn't swallow it

I really hope they don't charge me for this because it's not my fault, I didn't let her get into ANYTHING!

Well any positive vibes this way will be appreciated for tomorrow!

Incase you are interested this is what it looks like.

Huge (((((((( Luba and Sadie )))))))))

Poor Sadie, having to go through it again.

Did they not check her before she was allowed to go home?

I too hope you don't have to pay for it....

I'm sure everything will go smoothly tomorrow....

I'll be thinking of you both tomorrow.

Talking

Thanks muchly from us both!

Well, the doctor had to leave before we got there and her 'assistant' was supposed to discharge her to us. When I got there they wanted to keep her on IV for another 15 mins so we waited outside. About 10mins later I thought it was the 'assistant' that brought her outside to us.

So I started asking questions, and she said oh didn't so and so tell you about all that. I told her I thought she was that 'so and so' but she said she wasn't.She gave me the discharge papers and I said okay if I have any questions I will call.

That was that.

I wonder if the assistant did/didn't check it before Sadie left?
She would have noticed it gone for sure if she looked!

Ahhhh I do hate her having to go through this again, and I hope it goes smoother tomorrow.

She's so aggitated tonight won't sit still and is so irritated. Her gums must be bugging her a lot. It should be small enough for her to pass it in her stool yes. She had one since she came home but it wouldn't be in that one, maybe her morning one. I was so frustrated I didn't think to check it, thanks for mentioning it to me

I'll keep you all posted.

Here is to positive thinking

Well I would definately talk to the doctor about it.Seems there may have been a failure to comunicate..

And to be honest,I really don't think Sadie was checked before she left...Lets just hope she did......

Poor Sadie. It must be so uncomfortable for her.

If she is in some pain, maybe the vet could give her something.Maybe there is something that can be rubbed around the area to numb the pain???????

It's worth a try.....

You just never know!

The doc gave her something for inflammation before she left.

I'm not touching the area now, gonna wait until morning but will peak at it before bedtime. I took her for a very short quiet walk to get her aggrivation out and now she's resting. Will give her a little meal in a few mins then she has to fast again.

My poor baby!

I'm willing to wager she will not be pleased missing breakfast two days in a row.

Ciara & I are sending positive vibes Sadie's way.

I highly doubt any Vet would install something in a dogs mouth that cannot be passed with ease....just in case.

Thanks Karin and I hope you're right!

All these positive vibes...good good good good vibrations!

I couldn't give up on Sadie, I'd do anything for her in a heartbeat!
You are all the same as me and I know you'd do what I do if needed.

Can we say lots of mosquitos this year though, man I've got more bites then I've ever had before. They used to stay away from me but now I get bit like crazy.....buzzards they are! I got about 15 bites right now! (maybe more)

Is it bad where any of you guys are?

They aren't that bad here. But they are a Beotch at the ball park...Tons of them at this one ball park...We got something in the mail today...

West Nile virus season has arrived in Hamilton.....Oh yeeehawww....

They say that if you are bitten by an infected mosquito, symptoms usually appear 2 to 15 days.In mild cases you may have a fevor, headache, body aches and sometimes a mild rash.In serious cases would also include confusion(nothing new with me.... ) and muscle weakness.

You can also report standing(stagnant)water on private properties.

They wan't us to report any dead birds....If I heard right, there was a case in Milton not to long ago.

Well that's my free info on this subject.Any new info and I will have to charge.....

Yes Luba,alarm-bells went off when you mentioned skiter bites, please be careful, especially with your pre-existing condition.
They've already found dead Blue-Jays here in Halton, most crows are already gone, except for my two
I know you are against putting any poison on your skin, but you need to be protected.I am surrounded by Cedars, lots of skiters at night-time and at my tender age I have to be careful....
I guess Sadie is already back at the vet,Good Luck!!
