cat urination problems

My daughter's older cat is 8 years old. Recently he has begun urinating on her if she is holding him to pet him. He also urinates on her bed and chair. She is becoming inceasingly frustrated and sometimes considers getting rid of him. Please offer any suggestions. He is in good physical health although overweight and on low-cal cat food.

Has this cat been to a vet for this?
This kind of incontinence needs to be checked ou, especially if it's something new!

Male cats often have urinary tract problems or infections that can cause this kind of thing.
