UMMM....fixed male with testicles????
O Boy!!! I came home tonight and my Caleb greeted me at the door. He was all excited and had (pardon the term) a "red rocket". PLEASE PARDON THE TERM!!!! I don't know the official term for it. Anyways....he rolled onto his back and there were two testicle looking things at the base of his penis.
I AM SO CONFUSED!!!! We were told he was fixed when we adopted him from the Humane Society!!!!! Do they not remove the testicles???? I never saw this happen before on him. I called the vet to ask, but they have to call me back and I am very anxious about this. PLEASE HELP!!!! This dog never ceases to amaze me!!!!!!!! HAHA! |

Those are not testicles.
Testicles would be further behind. What you saw is called the glans penis. Taken from Pet Education website: The gland penis is a bulb-like dilation at the base of the penis, which fills with blood and holds the penis within the vagina during intercourse. |

Actually, I did find a few pics, which I won't post here.
But here's a drawing that shows it a little: The glans penis is shown with the letter "l" on that diagram. It's really two bulbs, one on each side. |

Go to the vet. Then you'll be sure.
I can't take pics and post them, this will turn into a xxx thread and the mods will remove it... |

HAHA!!!!
I spoke with the vet, they said they were "bulbs" and she said if they are toward the base of the penis, its the bulbs. She said thats how dogs get "tied in" during mating. So I tried explaining to her that they were in the abdomen near the base because it seems strange to me that being where they are on him, it would be hard to get "tied in". If it IS the glans, by golly it looks just like testicles!!!!!!! Is there any chance that a dog has testicles that did not drop???? What a day.... I have to say, I am so happy I found this site. You all have been a wonderful help and support system!!!!!! |

LOL, when i first saw this on my boy I freaked like you did....I had just paid $200+ for him to be neutered so I was quite shocked. I also called the vet who kinda laughed at me but they are not testicles...mind you his were/are further up than what you describe, but yep thats what it is.

ok editing won't worl for me tonight for some reason...but i wanted to add that I just had my 2nd boy done about a month ago and I have yet to notice this on him, so maybe he's not mature enough to have thsi gland or maybe I know what it is so even if I do see it I pay no mind.
