dog chewing toe

I have a 6 year old yorkie who is chewing his toe on one of his back feet constantally. I took him to the vet 6 months or so ago and they gave his steriods and the swelling did not go down. His toe is HUGE. When I touch it I can tell it is really sore. there is no bleeding but it is crusty around the toenail area. Does anyone have any idea's....thanks in advance..........

Have you had your dog to the vet recently? Sounds like this warrants a return trip--he might have an infection around the nail. Poor little guy!

Please take him back to the vet--he sounds really uncomfortable! And don't forget to post an update with a progress report. Hope it's nothing serious!

I agree with the others. He definitely needs to see a vet again asap. Good luck and please post with an update.

There could be something foreign embedded in his foot, that needs to be removed
