bringing in koi

I was just wondering if anyone brings in their koi for the winter. I havent up till now, but I was told that the bigger the koi get the less chance they have of making it thru the winter. I really dont want to lose any of them, the biggest one is probably about a foot long now. I shouldnt have named them all and then gotten so attached. I never thought I could care so much about a fish. I have ten of them and do you think a bathtub sized container would be big enough? With their pump, and plants of course.

we had 32 , foot long + fish that we'd bring in every winter, they were split between two full size bathtubs, 3 air filters in each.

If your pond is at least 3 feet deep(in southwestern ontario), you can leave the koi in the pond over winter and they should survive just fine. You may want to put a small pump or heater in(ckeck with a fish store) to keep the pond from completely freezing up as the fish will need a hole in the ice to breathe.

Actually, the bigger the koi get, the more likely they are
to make it through the winter.
As our winters in Canada are very similar to Chinese winters,
you should have no problems, so long as the pond is at least
3 feet deep.
A pond heater could be used to prevent it from freezing solid as well.
For large koi, if you did insist on bringing them in, you would need
a container at least 2x wider that the fish is long, and at least 4x longer.
Rubbermaid tote bins are inexpensive and come in many sizes.
