The regulars probably don't make up the majority of hits for the adds.

Welcome just the same.

A troll is a sad lonley person with no life that comes here makes up a story that is not true, just to get people i am not sure, mad, upset,or i guess they just find it funny to lie about having a pet, which is really kind of sick, being as most people here really love animals with all their heart, like me,

IN other words mocking pet lovers who have the best interest of animals at heart.
Someone who is trolling will deliberately post about stuff to rile us up, with clearly no actual concern about their pet.
But this happens in all forums. Not only pet forums.
Just a way for them to feel big

No worries Mmurlock. I don't think anyone was referring to you when they were talking about trolls. Trolls are people who post things that aren't questions so much as made up stories or they may post something and find that it gets a heated response so they keep picking at that. Like someone who had a screen name last year that said that they hated teenagers--put it right in their name ! They were asked to change it but since they knew that it was upsetting people they would talk about it in their posts--how much they hated teens--just to make people angry.

Anyay--I don't even know if I should have brought it up but its so old and it's a good example of what people are talking about. Mods please delete that if it's inappropriate. I was just trying to show Mmurlock an example.

I add my welcome to all the new members too - hopefully you will all find as much information and support as I have been fortunate to find here! A good example is the advice I was given when changing my dog's food - this particular change could not be mixed - saved my dog a lot of discomfort and me a lot of worry!

I must say too that now that I know trolls live under bridges, I'll be much more careful when I go under them

Thumbs up "Keep it KIND!"

In the past year or so this BB has wildly exceeded any expectations I ever had in terms of support/encouragement/info...I honestly don't know if I could have coped with a challenging feral cat scenario (let alone shared my story, and actually had FUN ).

When one of our dogs came down with a rather rare condition and I posted the details, a member had the diagnosis down pat even before my very on-the-ball vet (talk about Dr. House, DVM!!).

The world is full of divergent opinions; it's possible to express oneself in a respectful manner, which is what my experience with this BB has been...and I'm grateful for that. Bottom line is, we're all here as critter folks!!

I've also noticed the influx of newbies, and I extend a WELCOME to all new members who are sincere. The board seems to be going through some changes right now it seems, hope that doesn't scare any pet lovers away!

And as a side note, a different board I'm on went through something very similar, and people started getting suspicious. When the mods checked the IP addresses of several of the "newbies", it turned out they were all posting from the exact same computer. Now I am certainly NOT saying that is happening here, however whenever I see an influx of people with very similar writing styles I do wonder. I try hard not to judge and to adhere to "innocent until proven guilty" and I would like to welcome everyone regardless, and I am looking forward to contributions from the new members.
