I hope you find your dog soon. Keep us posted.

I would like to comment on the phrase dogcatcher. I know lots of people that call ACO's dogcatchers. It's very frustating. As an ACO, we do alot more than take in stray dogs. We handle sick/injured domestic and wildlife, as well as stray dogs and cats.

We are not dogcatchers we are Animal Control Officers, also known as Animal Protection officers.

I appreciate all the work that ACO's do but, I have to add that not all areas are fortunate to have them. We live in a rural area with no SPCA or shelter of any type. The closest one is in the next town 25 miles away. All we have here is a "dogcatcher" that is hired by the municipality on a contract basis. He also has another job and is not always available. He takes them to one of the local vets and hopefully the owner is found. If not, they call the SPCA. The animals are assessed and if not deemed asoptable they are put down.
