Urgent? what does it mean

Hi there
Can someone tell me when you are looking at dogs for adoption .....what does it mean when they put URGENT beside the dogs name.......I have inquired about such a dog and forgot to ask The woman that called me seemed rather rushed and almost not interested,(although I could be wrong) just asked 50 questions and said if the dog was right for me then they would call me.......I didnt want to phone her again as I already called twice and emailed twice so I didnt want to seem pushy
thanks.
Deb

When I put "Urgent" on my Petfinder site, it means either that the animal is outside and needs to be fostered, or that the animal is in danger of being killed at a shelter.

People may also put it if they have a dog in boarding, and it's getting too expensive, or the dog is in a no-kill shelter and is deteriorating in that environment.

Thanks lucky,
I believe she mentioned he was in care (whatever that means) His eyes are so beautiful they just say 'pick me'.....lol.....I guess they all do but he was just stunningly similar to bandit like they were brothers so I couldn't resist what do you think?

Be pushy!! Prove you really really want this dog! I know if someone calls and mails us a lot, it means they are very serious and really want the animal.

Of course, I don't mean you should be rude or aggressive. Something along the lines of "Sorry to keep bugging you, but I just love this dog and know she is the right one for me!"

Let us know!!

HA HA Anita u so ooooo funny! Was I like that tooo?

Iggette, were you talking to Grace Hall from Adopt a dog save a life?

She is an AMAZING woman and she does WONDERFUL work rescuing dogs from kill shelters/pounds, including Toronto Humane.
She's been doing this for about 30 years now.

I learned a lot from her when I rescued Honey (the pointer that wAggie adopted from me)

I think Grace is a fabulous lady and when you're talkin to her tell her that I say hello!!

GOOD LUCK!! Grace is a tough cookie, but it's for the good of the dogs! She's very thorough

Actually I talked to a woman named Justine, and she said if Casey was right for me then the woman that ran things would give me a call, so perhaps I am waiting for Grace to call. waiting and waiting and waiting till monday. This has been the longest weekend ever, figures ,I pick a dog on Friday just to torchure myself over the weekend.....lol I am going to call first thing Monday morning, Oh I hope he is right for us!!!!! I have spent three days showing everyone his picture like he was already mine I realize I shouldn't get myself all excited for what might be a big let down .......but I just can't seem to help myself. It's sunday morning now and I find myself checking the petfinder board just to make sure he is still posted......oh this is hard isn't it? I guess I'm just waiting to hear if casey would be ok with a dominate female dog and 8 kitties.

Crossing my fingers and toes......

Luba........If I say Luba said hi.....would she know your user name....as I type this I realize it is perhaps a dumb question.....just thought I would ask anyway.....lol

Unhappy

Sadly Casey needs to be the only dog in his new home , apparently would not do well in a home with cats either So I get it's back to the pet boards. This is so discouraging. I hope I find a new friend soon

Seems I fell in love with a picture.....lol yes it was heartbreaking...well the search continues I guess.

My main concern is My 11 yr old female she is purebred shepard and a dominate one at that.

And also my 8 kitties our new friend must not look upon them as a tasty snack .

So with those two stipulations I have to find a dog small - medium in size that can cope in that environment.

I do walk my dog sometimes on a leash but not often as I live on a farm and am allways out side with our pups (even though they're old they are my puppys) so they are generally free to run and play on the property all day, lots of room for ball and frizbee when we are out doin stuff and weather permits, other than that they stay inside with us. If no one is home (Rarely) I like my dogs inside. In public they are allways on a leash. Oh and must like swimming.....lol (joking) Ursa loves to go camping and swim all day long, as it is great excersise and easy on her hips

I'm finding that my stipulations tend to slim the choices a bit I thought a male dog would be best with Ursa being dominate female what do you think?

I'm afraid that pit bull mixxes might be a bad idea for this very reason, altho that Dotti is so sweet isn't she.
