Mile 26 2011 Calendars

Attention those of you who graciously purchased a NOAWS Mile 26 Calandar:

I was informed by a NOAWS representative yesterday that there are two errors with the 2011 calendar. The month of June was printed with 31 days and secondly, August 1st begins on a Monday, not a Sunday, therefore the entire month of August will be one day behind.

NOAWS sadly regrets these errors and explained that they are a limited group of volunteers trying to make the lives of abused and abandoned pets better and hope that we can accept their apology.

Personally, I think they did a fantastic job with the calendar and continue to do great things for the lives of the animals that come into their care .

I didn't notice. I was sent one as a gift by the wonderful L4H for a Christmas gift. I looked at the pics a few times and put it away for safe keeping. When I need a boost I will take it out to remind myself there are some wonderful human beings left on this earth. One of them is the person who the person who kept this thread going when most would have lost interest. She never stops trying to match people and pups. Rescue Rocks!!

I know that our small volunteer rescue up here, took two of the dogs and I was talking to the leader of the rescue a couple of weeks ago. And she told me they both found their forever homes and were doing very well! *S*

that the remaining six find their forever homes soon.

Remaining Mile 26er's

There are 4 adult dogs remaining: Papa, Dakota, Tara and Shizzle. The two boys are at All Heart in Powasson and the girls are at Pet Save in Sudbury. Frankie and Miss Piggy were recently adopted together and it sounds like they will have a great home!

Miss Piggy update

Miss Piggy....somehow or other it was overlooked that Miss Piggy was still waiting for a home to call her own....She was adopted with Frankie, but didn't get along with the other dog in the house and was returned

Miss Piggy is currently at Pet Save in Sudbury.

Miss Piggy has once again been adopted from PetSave. One Mile 26 dog remains to be adopted.

Shizzle has been described as independant and waits patiently at PetSave for someone special to give her a forever home.

Ella Blue had been returned to the Timmins and District Humane Society in September 2011 but was quickly adopted and now never has to worry about being shuffled around any longer. She has become a loving asset to my pack and she can never get enough snuggles.

Mother of 3

Thank you everyone. Ella Blue was welcomed into my home by both my human family and dog family consisting of Honey (Iceland~ adopted in August 2010~from Mile 26) and my first rescue dog, Roxy (adopted in July 2009) I may be quite bias, but Northern Rescue dogs make the best pets!

No doubt! If I was able to have a dog, I would have tried to get one of the Mile 26 Rescue dogs. The pics of them just tore at my heart stings . What a great job the rescuers/volunteers did, shows there is still humanity left in the world

Just to let everybody know that there is a book now published on this TREMENDOUS rescue by very caring people:

Quote:
A book has been published about the "Mile 26" rescue of 60 dogs which happened in the summer of 2010.

Marilyn Dickie wrote the book and compiled many photos of the rescue and updates from various people that adopted dogs from the Mile 26 rescue.

Anyone that is interested in purchasing the book can email Marilyn at.....withhopetheywaited@hotmail.com.

Cost per book is $20.00 + shipping.
