Congestive Heart Failure

My 13 year old Boston Terrier has been diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure on Saturday. He has to go in for an ultrasound and EKG to confirm it but the vet was pretty sure this is what he has. He has slowed down in the last three weeks and we had a misdiagonosis it appears. The first vet was sure it was colitis but the symptoms didn't go away. So CHF is what it's looking like.

Has anyone had a dog this age get diagnosed and start meds with postive results? We are ready to give it a try (my bf and myself) but it's always nice to hear others experience with this.
