Dog in heat even though it has been fixed
Has anyone ever had this happen????
Sheba, our foster is in heat yet she is supposed to be fixed. Had her hormone levels checked and they are low. I was told by the vet that there may have been some tissue left. Has anyone ever had this happen or heard of it happening to someone else? Any advice would be appreciated.

Can you describe what the symptoms and signs are that have the vet and you concerned?
How old is your foster dog? |

Oh, and for your own research - the vet would be looking at stump pyometra, or ovarian remnant syndrome. You could google those terms to see if the symptoms match your dog's symptoms.

Thank you,Marcha
I googled and I am still confused. Her vulva is swollen and she is bleeding. But other than that she is normal. She will be going for tests next week. This just started.

It doesn't happen very often but sometimes a vet will leave some tissue remnants in the dog. Unfortunately the only way of knowing for sure is for the vet to open her back up again and remove it.

Oh, poor Sheba! I hope she won't need surgery again.
