Pom - can't walk
First of all Rufus is a very active, happy 2 1/2 year old Purebred Pommerian. About 3 weeks he got sick in the middle of the night. At the time I didn't think anything about it. About 1 week ago he started weezing when he would play with the other dogs and then his bark changed. One Saturday I noticed that he was walking alittle stiff legged on the back and then by Monday he was barley walking at all. I was on vacation at the time and raced him for an emergency vet check. Blood work showed that his liver enzimes were alittle high and that it would either be failing for he could have cushions disease. I then cut my vacation short and rushed home to our vet.
With more lab and x-rays, yet the enzimes were alittle high on the liver but he didn't feel it was something to worry about. Although we will redo blood work in about 2 weeks. He feels that he has somehow hurt his back and has put him on a special diet of k/d & predazone. It has been 3 days and although Rufus is do very little walking I am still not sure. A back injury does not explain the weezing, the change of bark and oh yes the sudden bad breath. If anyone has experienced this or has any knowledge please help. Rufus has become a part of my life and it is tearing me apart watching him be so sad and inactive. |
