surgery and recovery time...please respond!
Just curious how long it took your cat to be 100% after surgery...?
My 9 yr old adorable Ragdoll had 2 teeth extracted last Wed and it is now Monday. He is eating and sleeping but still not himself. He used to be 'Mr. Personality' have tons of energy and every so often freak out and run around crazy. I have seen none of that. Any advice would be great. I love him more than anything...!!! |

A week is not unusual for an older animal to recover from extraction surgery. Aslong as your cat is still eating & using the litterbox as per normal, he may just need another day or two to get back to himself.
Is this the cat w/early stages of kidney disease & heart failure? Was there pre surgery bloodwork done? Were the results all good? Do you have a recheck appointment booked for the vet to check how the gums are healing?

Now, Frenchy asked you about meds...and, that would be where I would begin to reply.
It may be that he is in pain...not enough to prevent his eating, but enough to make him withdraw. Also, back on August 11, you posted about one of your cats dealing with kidney and heart problems, but you haven't posted again until now. Is this the same cat? If it were me, I would, as soon as possible, have this cat examined again and advise the Vet that, for the reasons above, that I wanted the cat treated for pain. If the Vet is certain that he isn't hurting, s/he will tell you. One caution...if you are offered Metacam link, politely request an alternate drug. In the meantime, as growler said, it is not unusual for a cat to require a week or so before returning to "normal" after surgery.
