small lesion at base of penis on shih tzu

Hi,
Maybe I can draw on the collective wisdom of this board...
My shih tzu (Frodo..1 and a half years) went to the groomers a week or so ago, and now he has a small lesion at the base of his penis and onto his testes. I noticed it a couple days ago when he swung his head back to 'get it' while eating, as if something had bit him. It looked like old blood there which I was scaping out of his short fur and the underlying sore has now turned slightly yellow on top of the redness. It's very locallized which makes me think that he 'scraped' it on something (it actually looks like a rug burn) which is fine, and should heal...but I'm also worried that he might have contracted something at the groomers? I took a pic, but it kind of hard to see as the sores are actually quite small -about half of a dime.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
Sue

I take it Frodo went to get clipped?

If so,the only thing I can think of is that when Frodo got clipped, they might have cut him by mistake...It happened when my friend took her 2 Bichons to get groomed. They got a bit to close to the skin.

The yellow on the top might be puss.It may be infected.

"edited"...my spelling sucks this morning.lol

lesion

Thanks Mona,
So what should I do if it seems to be infected or not healing? Is there a special anti-bacterial cream I can put on? Can I use our own or is there special doggie formulas? :-)

Your Welcome...

What you can do is put some Polysporne(sp) on it...But since I can't see it,you may want to call your vet and explain it to them. They may tell you what to do or may want you to bring Frodo in to get checked.

In my opinion,I would call the vet and ask them.

Do you have a pic of your Frodo?.....
