one more for the other side?
This makes me sick. Guess this loser feels like 'a man' when he unleashes his poor dogs on innocent people. Lock him up.

It states lawyers are working on getting the dogs put down?? How is that solving anything, this man can go out and buy some more, not train/socialize them and it happens all over again.

And of course once again the dogs are going to be p/d. I vote the dogs get re-homed and the owner gets put down.

While I think it sucks that the dogs will probably be put down, I feel it is the best thing. These poor dogs were taught to be aggressive through their owner. It is now embedded in their brain. Even behaviroual class's/rehab classes and such would not work.
You can't just put these dogs in a home environment and think that their behavioural will change. Being aggressive is all these dogs know. It's heartbreaking. We once had a extremely aggressive dog in our shelter. He was beautiful. It was tearful to watch, he was soo aggressive, so scared and all because his owner made him like that and just didn't care. His ower was in jail. We had to have two officers with a ketch-pole on him and they were having a hard time controlling him. He was so aggressive that when walking by the run door he would throw his whole body against it, like he wanted to have you for lunch. He was way to aggressive to adopt out. It is just heartbreaking to see a animal be treated like that. Because of his owner he hated everything and acted like everyone was out to get him. The shelter was the only kind hand and words that he knew, but because he was raised to be aggressive...he was wary of kindness. Because of his owner, he is a risk to the public and the public's animals. While it is the owner's willingly fault, the dog pays the price. He was the product of his whole exitance was tied with chain to a dog house in the backyard, with no socialilation, hardly human contact. RIP boy. The next time I'm attacked by some little ankle biter, should I call the police and the press? Or would they just hang up on me?
Seriously... little dogs are viscous very often but it's 'cute'. I agree the dogs should not be put down but that idiot man should be.

The dogs should be assessed and if deemed not to be rehabilitatable (sp??), then be put down. Look at the success that was done with Vick's dogs. Many were rehabilitated and adopted out.
My issue is allowing the man to be free to adopt dogs again. The problem is not being solved.

I agree, they seriously need to start holding the owners accountable. I'm so tired of people getting dogs without getting any info on the breed. Like a husky, high energy, etc, etc. hmmm lets lock it in the house all day. Just drives me crazy. Unless you educate yourself on the bully breeds i don't think you should be allowed to have on. Same with any of the large dogs. Each has their own temperment and needs. And i do think that people need to start reporting when small dogs become agressive or bite. They too can do damage.

I agree, owners should be held accountable and not be allowed to adopt any animals out. And that every breed, if deemed aggresssive should get media attention...not just pitties or rotti's.
I remember we had a situation here close to the city that I live in, that a cocker spaniel had pretty much chewed off half of a kids face. Do you think media was all over it. NO..of course not. It's sad. I agree with atleast trying to rehab first...but more of then not, it sadly does not work. We at the shelter that I work for, have had aggressive dogs come through our dogs. We try with each of them for an extended period of time. Most did not come around. Now on the topic of Vicks dogs. This is a very wary move. Why I would like to think that these dogs are not dangerous to the public and the publics pets, I can't. These dogs were bred to fight and be aggressive. It is in their blood. The top dog-fighters have top blood line dogs..the best of the best fighters. You can bet Mr. Vick was paying the money for his dogs. The best fighters make the most money. And that is what DF is. You want the top dog with the best blood line, enhence why some dogs go for hundreds and thousand of dollars. These dogs are conditioned from the start. I know ALOT..both US and Canada shelters that were outraged that these dogs were adopted out. ACO22 Last edited by NoahGrey; August 13th, 2008 at 09:22 AM. |

It would be interesting to follow the lives of these dogs to see if they are involved in any future aggression incidents.
