Since we're doing artistic photos...

These aren't doggy photos, but I think they fit in? They are of the river that is at the end of the road I will move to in June... Yey... I love flooded rivers for pictures.

Aw thanks for the compliments. I got into Ryerson for photography but I decided against going... I'm so rusty now, I'm surprised any of them turned out... I wish I had a scanner to show you all my better work.. I used to be really good.

Thanks.. I usually don't like sun prisms in my photos, but these ones break up the spookiness a bit, so I left them in.

Concordia is BIZARRE for photography. A friend of mine told me if you want to get in, just scratch up a picture with a key and pour paint on it. I got into Ryerson, which accepts only 40 people out of over 800 applicants, and Concordia told me my photos were "point and shoot". I looked on the wall and sure enough there was a picture, scraped up with paint poured on it. I almost laughed in her face. Ryerson's program is better too. They teach a lot of technique whereas concordia focuses on the art part only. Newsflash Concordia-- most "starving photographers" make money to live off of using technical photograhy...

By the river is the Mille Iles river (north of Laval).

I have no idea where that is Prin. Not familiar with Montreal are yet. I must explore! hehe

and gosh...aren't all art schools the same?? That is why i dropped out of photo major at O.C.A.D. , because my pictures were never "soulful " enough...as if i need someone to show me how to express myself as an artist. meanwhile this otehr girl shoots 10 photos that are almost totally black , of her hand shoving pieces of paper under a door...and WOW that refers to remembering childhood memories...riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

gosh i hope i do ok til i transfer to what i originally wanted

LOL... Ryerson is known for it's journalism program so I guess to support that, they take people whose pics are more technical. I considered my pictures artistic... There is more to art than the bizarre. There is also composition, lighting, detail, subject, etc etc. Some of my best pictures might very well be point and shoot, but they are still pointed and shot by my eyes and I like to believe that no one else sees things like I do.

Laval is the island just north of Montreal, and the mille iles is the river north of that-- it's really just part of the St laurence.

Nice pics you guyz.

A sunset at our place

And, speaking of art, I turned this picture of Keeper, mousing out in our field just after a snowstorm, into a watercolour via Adobe Photoshop for some phoney baloney art:

Great photography

Great photographs - great to see pictures of Canada from an expat! I applied to OCA for the photo-arts department and didn't get in. The comments from the freak (student peer-sneered at me for my conventionl attire) that interviewed me were my work "looked too real, too many skills and styles and I reminded them of an 'old artist' not some one who they could contort and develop". Because I had not applied anywhere else I worked as an apprentice instead. That was 15 years ago and I now work and live in London, England in media and also exhibit as an artist. Wonder what 'she' is doing?

RickC I didn't know you could do that in PhotoShop! I have PhotoShop on my computer because my hubby uses it and I have just used it for things like contrast and sizing. I've been wanting to take a class . . . sometime. Now you're making me want to take one right away!
