searching for a Bichon Frisé breeder

Hello, I am doing some online search for my aunt. She lives in the Barrie, ON area and would like to know if there is a Bichon Frisé breeder in the surrounding.
If you know of someone can you please contact me at: cindy.lapierre@sympatico.ca

thank you

Cindy

You should contact the Canadian Kennel Club to find a list of ethical and reputable breeders.

Be careful. This is one of the breeds greatly favoured by puppymillers and backyard breeders because they are so popular and many can be crammed into a small space.

I don't know of any in the Barrie area. But I know of a few in other areas.

Does your aunt realize that there will be a waiting list? They do occasionally have pups that are brought back.

Does it have to come from a breeder? What about a rescue?

There's 242 Bichons listed on Petfinder right now:
http://www.petfinder.org/search.html

And if you scroll down here:
http://www.dogbiz.com/dog-clubs-can/...an-b-index.htm
You will find both the Bichon breed club in Canada, and Bichon rescue.
Contacting someone who is affiliated with the breed clubs will really help weed out backyard breeders, if she truly wants a puppy - but like Mona says, good breeders usually have a waiting list.
Good breeders & fanciers often are involved with rescue also, so some networking may well turn up younger dogs or puppies.
Good luck!
