Thumbs down Help needed to help dog find "her" area inyard.

I have recently moved to a new home. My lab, in the previous yard, only peed in one area, and pooped in one area. Never on the grass. Always in the ivy beds. I have put in new ivy in the new yard, and want to train her to only go in those areas. Would it help if I collect her urine (while on walks) and pour it in the area I want her to establish? Same withthe poop?

That would be quite the feat collecting the urine. I dont know if it would work - but the logic makes sense to me....

Good luck. I dont really have any advice except for take her to the same spot and until she gets used to the idea.

The easiest method to collect urine is in a folded down plastic ziplock bag that you place under her when she is going, you will then be able to unfold and zip it up and carry it home safely, the urine hitting a pie tin makes noise which can startle some dogs, on the greyhound tracks for drug testing urine collection they use papercups taped to a pole or yard stick.

in pet stores near you (i'm sure) there is a new product called a pee post. You put it where you want them to eliminate and take them out a couple of times on a leash to get them started. Apparently there are pheramones on the stick that encourage them to go there. As soon as my newly laid grass takes I am gonna give it a try.
On a funny note I remember my mom trying to get my brothers dog to go in a kiddy pool full of sand. She stood out there in the rain with this dog while Shelby looked up at her with a "you must be joking" look on her face.
