I'd say the odds are still pretty good. Lots of dogs have been found and reunited with their owners after much longer times. A while back there was a loose dog that was really scared and they finally caught her after months .

Lots of hugs for you, this is all of ours worst nightmare .

Good luck .

Our Gracie has been missing for 38 days now, but we know she's alive (was spotted on Tuesday - see my Lost Lab/Shepherd in Brampton thread) and we're just grateful that she's survived through the horrible cold weather. So a week really isn't long (for the dog - it's a real long time for you, I know :sad.

Thank you

Again, all I can say is thank you,
It is so cold out there, I can't bear to think she is out there.
I am going out early in the morning again,
Thank you all for not letting me lose hope;
YOU REALLY ARE AN INSPIRATION:
Naomi

Naomi, did you manage to distribute posters at vets in your area? I'll be in the area of NDG and Westmount tomorrow...I'd be more than happy to get some posters at several vets there as well as at 3 very popular pet supply stores. Can you fax me a copy of a poster? I can pm you a number.

Naomi, what about putting posters on parked cars, even in the nearest mall where she might have been seen,I know that would involve hundreds of posters, but people usually look at anything stuck on their wind-shield

I think this is a brilliant idea. You could print half-page posters to reduce costs and waste.

posters ?

I have distributed 5000 flyers in the publi sac(it is going to be sent out in a bag with all stor flyers. We won't talk about what the cost was, really I only needed 30,000 to hand out to all the surrounding areas.
Today, my husband & I went door to door and put out another 150.00.
I am offering a $500.00 reward, so incase someone wants to keep the dog, it will be enough money to buy their own.
But I like the ideas of cars, however, I just don't know wher to look anymore.
I received a phone call saying whe was seen clear across town on Thursday.
I don't know if I should follow the lead, can they really go that far.
Again, Thank you,
Naomi

You know, Poodletalk knows people in the media, I wonder if she might have any ideas in that direction. Have you tried to get something into your local newspaper? The publi-sac idea is genius.
It must be difficult to know which leads to follow up on, but I think you have to take them at face value. JRs are pretty fast, aren't they?
Poor girl, I hope you catch a break soon.

Nami...Yes they really can go that far...Just after Christmas a little shiztu was found about ten miles north of where she went missing in Whitby...she was found in a barn to the north by a farmer so don't underestimate where they can get to.

I cannot see anyone ignoring her if she goes to someones house or is running around on the street, she is a small JRT and very pretty,I believe someone has her, hopefully will see a poster and realize she is very much loved by her owners.
Someone I know, kept a Shi-Tzu(sp?)because she was skinny, dirty and really hungry, thinking she had been abused...she only called HS to see if a Tzu had been reported missing.

I have a running in the Gazette. I am going to post in the town post & try other municipalities. so many posters that I put up have been removed.
I also beleive she will only go to a dog person, someone who lowers themselves or pretends to offer food.

I truly understand your pain, but don't give up and again don't underestimate how far the little guy can travel.
Follow up on leads. I made a web page on dogster.com and when I would get a call I would have them look at all the pictures on the web page before driving to check it out in person. Everyone is amazed at the huge binder I have full of #'s I have followed up. I know a lot were not my dog
but at least people were looking.
Don't give up hope...just make as many people as you can aware that he is missing. I made up a business card size card with a picture on one side and contact info on the other side & gave it to anyone I could talk to.

Don't give up! When my neighbours lost their beagle, I found him in another province!!
He had been picked up by a stranger in a car, driven 30 minutes away where he escaped again and ended up in a rescue where I saw him by chance.

I saw your ad in the Montreal Gazette as did a number of friends so I can only imagine how many people it reached across the island. I'll keep my eyes open for Crystal here in Westmount and am in contact with lots of people in the dog community here.

Have you posted her photo at vet clinics around town?
