Unsure what to feed after SGWK, help please
Now that SG WK is a no go, I’m having some trouble figuring out what to feed my guys. Bailey’s not much of a problem when it comes to food. Bless my little guy he’s not picky in the slightest and (for the most part) has a stomach made of steel.
Dart, as usual, is an issue due to his hyper sensitive tummy. He’s not picky but does have a “delicate” system. Before SG WK they were on regular EVO with no problems but I switched due to all the great things I heard about WK. I have also tried EVO RM but found that for Dart it was too rich. He consistantly had loose stool. They are on DVP venison currently as I try to figure out what to feed them and honestly I’m getting a little stressed. Neither seems to have any allergy to certain protein types. I am finding that Dart is struggling with allergies lately (i.e. chewing his paws etc.) but I feel that is environmental and not food based. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I can get most foods without having to order so any food suggestions would be great. TIA.

Hi - I have two dogs with similar problems to yours. One has a very sensitive stomach and the other has unknown allergies.
I have just started feeding them Orijen - new grain-free food - they also make Acana. This is the website: http://www.championpetfoods.com/ I can't really give a good opinion on this food just yet because I have only been using it for a week. So far they seem to have adjusted well to it and really love the taste. I have also noticed much smaller poops than when they were on the solid gold wolfking. I liked the concept of the Orijen and the ingredients. I also wonder if this food might be too rich for my sensitive tummy dog and ok for my allergy dog - but I will see what happens with continued feeding. I will report back when I have been feeding it for a greater length of time! Good luck with your search! - I know how it feels to be searching for the right kind of food for our pets! |

If they were on the regular chicken/turkey based EVO and had no problems while on it then I would put them back on it.
Well, actually, first I would try the Orijen as it is chicken based as well. The ingredients are listed under meb999's sticky and they look really good. Plus they are Canadian and it is made at their own manufacturing plant in Alberta which is a definite bonus IMO. |

What's wrong with the DVP? It's a bit lacking in meat, but you can supplement with a bit of Evo RM (that's what I'm going to do for Boo, but with the fish one).

Unsure

That is one thing I have been worried about with the DVP but I often give my dogs chicken, beef etc... so I guess it would be the same as giving the Evo also. |

I haven't figured that out yet... It depends how Boo reacts to it when I get it. For Jemma, it's probably going to be 3/4 Evo and 1/4 DVP, but for Boo, I think he needs more of the DVP than the Evo...

Dart doesn't do well on the EVO RM. They did well on the regular EVO and from the way I understand there was nothing else added. I thought maybe Dart and Bailey are like my boys and do better on a chicken based food. |

But I thought if he was fed Evo as a supplement, and not as the bulk of the meal, it would be tolerated better...

Thanks all for the suggestions. There's nothing wrong with the DVP I just wanted to ensure that I'm feeding a food that is ok and it sounds like I am. I am a little surprised at the price.
What about mixing EVO regular with EVO RM? Would that be a problem? I think the boys will be OK on EVO RM so long as it's supplemented with something. ARGH....I am annoyed at SG for causing me and my puppies nutritional stress

Yeah, that would be ok too, as long as they have no allergies.
I'm so mad too. What a betrayal, eh? |

But you can't post on that one so it's just one person's opinion. What about the "rate it all" website?

Which rate it all one?
Even if that's one person's opinion, it's a really comprehensive site. |

That's true but we can't voice our opinions there.
I'll go find the rate-it-all site. |
