My One Fritillaria

I planted two two years ago, this one flowered and the other got something put on top of it in the fall clean-up and grew underneath all squiggly, hopefully next year it will be OK.

I love those plants!!!! One of these days I will have one or two or.... With all the plants available I tend to go a little crazy sometimes.
Those have bulbs, right? I will have to check Vesey's catalogue for them.

They are bulbs 14+k, quite large, they are to be planted on their side, because the top of the bulb has a hollow where water can settle thereby rotting the bulb. They smell of Skunk, when I first brought them home I put them in the vestibule and they stank the place out. I read that they reach 4ft tall but my one is only about 2ft if that, I'm not sure if they will get taller, I hope so. I paid $13 for two bulbs, I would think through Vesey's they will be cheaper.

I have never seen those before, they look like upsidedown flowers. Very nice!

It's a Crown Imperial - I ordered one from Vessey's and planted it last fall - it didn't come up! I give Vessey's credit though, I phoned them and told them and they are shipping me another one for planting this fall. Next spring, hopefully, I will be able to post a picture of mine They are truly beautiful!
