New comer with a quick question

Hi,
I'm new to pets.ca. As I said in my profile, I grew up with dogs (Newfoundland Dogs to be exact), and I would like to give my little girls the gift of always having a cuddly friend who will love them no matter what to grow up with. Two Christmas' ago we lost our golden retriever, Kody, to a heart defect, he was just a little over two years of age. I was with him at the end, and the pain of losing him as prevented me from giving my heart to another puppy. Now I am ready, not only for me, but my babies are young and need a puppy. So, after all that, my question is, does anyone know of a rescue organization for Newfoundland dogs, or a good breeder in the Edmonton area that I could contact to find 'the one'? Please let me know.

Thanks,
Missing the cuddles, hair tufts, and wet kisses

Sorry to hear about Cody. Newfies are great dogs I grew up with one as well, and goldens as well.

I am not familar with the Newfie rescue but know someone will be along soon to help.

Also we got are dog from a breed specific rescue and just ended up contacting all the numbers on it instead of just emailing, we found we felt more connected that way and got a lot more info and refferals for doggies.

Good luck.

Hi welcome. If you try petfinder you can ask it to search for a particular breed. I'm very sorry to hear about Kody. Good luck in your search.

I look for newfs every once in a while, just to see if there are any and usually there aren't unless they're in really bad shape (people usually love their newfs forever)... There are a lot of somewhat newf mixes (they look more like black golden retrievers).

I found one Newf Rescue for the states: http://www.newfdogclub.org/Main_Sub_...s13_rescue.htm
